Job Description
Global Patients Solutions (GPS), a business unit of Gilead Sciences, serves over 100 low-income countries worldwide, promoting health equity and driving sustainable, financially responsible commercial strategies. The regional team is seeking a motivated commercial operations leader capable of working effectively in cross-functional environments, navigating market complexity, and making strategic decisions with limited resources and data.
The successful candidate will assume a full-time role within the GPS organization, reporting to the Head and Executive Director of GPS Distributor Markets for the region, and will work closely with the Regional Commercial Director for North Latin America, based in São Paulo.
Job Description:
Lead the deployment and ongoing management of key annual strategic and tactical planning processes, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market dynamics within the region. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to develop comprehensive plans that address local market needs, competitive landscape, and organizational goals.
Collaborate closely with sales, medical affairs, market access, and other relevant functions to prioritize and execute Plans of Action (POA) in targeted markets. Ensure execution aligns with brand strategies, resource allocation, and market opportunities, while monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed.
Develop, implement, and prioritize regional brand campaigns and messaging, tailoring them to resonate with specific customer segments and regulatory requirements across the North Latin America Region. Coordinate with creative teams and local stakeholders to optimize campaign effectiveness and ensure regional consistency.
Partner with Access, Medical Affairs, and General Management teams to develop detailed business cases for product launches, lifecycle management, and access programs. This includes aligning strategies on reimbursement, pricing, and stakeholder engagement to maximize product adoption and market penetration.
Work closely with global and regional marketing teams to ensure strategic alignment on marketing initiatives, positioning, and messaging. Oversee development and delivery of comprehensive training programs to equip field teams and stakeholders with consistent, compliant messaging.
Rigorously manage promotional budgets to meet or exceed financial targets, ensuring all expenses are justified, optimized, and in compliance with local and international policies and regulations. Monitor expenditures, analyze variances, and execute corrective actions proactively.
Ensure all marketing and promotional activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Stay informed on regional legal requirements and industry standards, conducting periodic training and audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts for the region, including a rolling 24-month view and a detailed 5-year strategic forecast. Incorporate various scenarios (base, upside, downside) with assumptions aligned to global GPS forecasts. Use these forecasts to inform resource allocation and strategic decision-making.
Serve as a subject matter expert on specific Gilead products within the GPS portfolio, providing detailed technical and market insights. Act as a liaison with global teams and Value & Access to develop robust business cases for new product launches, access programs, and lifecycle strategies, supporting evidence-based decision-making.
Knowledge, Experience, Competencies, and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably with several years in specialty products, sales, marketing, or commercial excellence roles.
Strong presentation and data analysis skills.
Experience managing cross-functional teams across global, regional, and local levels.
Knowledge of the Latin American market with fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written).
Ability to work independently and deliver results in a remote working environment across multiple time zones.
