Director, Operations – AAT

The Director, Operations AAT drives global operational excellence, productivity, and performance across multiple manufacturing sites supporting our instruments business. This leader defines and executes the operational strategy to deliver world-class production of sophisticated instruments and consumables.

Reporting to the CMD Vice President, Operations and Vice President/General Manager, AAT, this role is a key member of the AAT leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the global operations vision, strategy, and objectives for the AAT business
  • Drive performance across a network of manufacturing sites, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance
  • Translate strategy into results by implementing plans that enhance productivity, cost control, and customer satisfaction.
  • Use financial insights to evaluate performance, identify growth and efficiency opportunities, and guide decision-making.
  • Develop and manage the Annual Operating Plan (AOP); balance resources to achieve business goals in dynamic environments.
  • Encourage collaboration across functions and regions to solve challenges and achieve shared outcomes.
  • Champion continuous improvement using PPI and automation to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance capability.
  • Cultivate a culture of safety, compliance, and customer focus across all operations.
  • Build and mentor high-performing teams that deliver consistent results and embody Thermo Fisher values.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management, or related field
  • 10+ years of global manufacturing and operations leadership experience across supply chain, production, and quality
  • Proven success managing multi-site or matrixed operations and delivering measurable improvements
  • Expertise in Lean/PPI methodologies, driving efficiency and productivity across complex organizations
  • Skilled at leading leaders, building accountability, and developing operational talent
  • Strong communicator and influencer, effective across functions, regions, and levels
  • Experience leading through change and crisis management
  • Up to 35% travel required
