How you’ll succeed
Independent Challenge – Challenge the business lines’ operational risk and control assessments and recommendations, including the review of operational incidents, change initiatives risk assessments(CIRA), and risk & control self-assessments (RCSAs). As a second line of defense for the management of operational risk, this role requires a deep understanding of assigned Functional Groups (Treasury, Finance, Risk Management and Internal Audit) as well as the ability to challenge senior employees of the Bank in a constructive manner.
Advisory Support – Collaborate with business units, functional groups, risk associates and control groups to ensure that operational risk and control policies, procedures and standards are understood and properly implemented. As a subject matter expert, facilitate and support management’s use of various risk and control identification and assessment tools (e.g. external event reviews, incident reports, CIRAs, RCSAs, etc.). The role also provides input into refining and improving risk assessment tools and controls as part of a continuous improvement process, utilizing industry standards as applicable.
Proactive Oversight – Identify material and emerging risks through proactive Risk Reviews and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and External Events, utilizing industry knowledge and professional networks as appropriate. Effectively communicate areas or concern to ensure appropriate risk mitigation actions are taken.
Partnership – Build effective working relationships with assigned businesses as well as control groups and other risk associates. Add value to business partners by providing advice on the management of operational risk and controls, including risk mitigation strategies. Promote a ‘controls and operational risk culture’, which includes managing senior internal relationships to promote acceptance and implementation of operational risk and control framework programs.
Leadership - Provide leadership to colleagues in GORM by: Setting appropriate context when assigning work; Building team and individual capabilities; Managing self and team performance; Creating a positive work environment; and Promoting compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls.
Who you are
You demonstrate experience in Treasury, Finance, Risk Management and Internal Audit with a deep understanding of relevant operational risks obtained through a combined minimum of 5 years working in one or more of the following areas:
Corporate Treasury having exposure in processes and products (Capital Management, Funding & Liquidity Management, Trading, Balance Sheet Hedging, Financial/Regulatory Reporting, etc.), technology systems used, key sources of operational risks within respective processes or trade lifecycle,
Financial Reporting or Accounting
Risk Management having exposure to risk management methodologies and effective challenge
Internal Audit or similar controls and governance role.
It’s an asset if you have experience with Operational Risk Management methodologies and tools, such as Incident Reports, CIRAs, RCSAs and KRIs.
