Job Purpose:

The Methodist Health System (MHS) Talent Development (TD) Team collaborates with leaders and their teams to drive our organization’s vision and to ensure the successful achievement of MHS business goals and objectives. The TD Team is seeking a talented and experienced Talent Development Director to strengthen and ensure alignment between identified business priorities and organizational vision and strategy and help improve the overall effectiveness of the organization.

The Director of Talent Development, along with the members of the TD Team, is responsible for supporting local and system-wide human resource development initiatives aimed at enhancing staff, leader, departmental and organizational performance.  The TD Director partners with key business leaders and Human Resources to drive end-to-end design, deployment, and reinforcement of organizational effectiveness programs, strategies, and interventions as well as to measure the effectiveness of these initiatives and report results to key stakeholders. The position reports to the VP of Organizational Effectiveness and Patient Experience.

Education:   

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline (Organization Development (OD), Organizational Management, Business Administration, HRD, I/O Psychology, HR, or related field)

Licenses and/or Certifications (Required and Preferred):

  • Certification and/or experience administering commonly used organizational development and leadership development tools (i.e., multi-rater feedback, style/personality assessments, team building tools, etc.) and learning curriculums preferred
  • CPLP or PHR certification preferred

Related Work Experience and Other Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in Talent Development, L&D, OD, HR or Talent Management
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of and demonstrated experience in developing, adapting and applying appropriate OD and organizational effectiveness-related models, practices, tools and current trends
  • Experience in effectively influencing, and consulting with leaders at all levels of the organization. Solid competency in large group facilitation and session planning, individual and team coaching, and the design and delivery of leadership and team development sessions
  • A demonstrated ability to identify and define problems, collect and analyze data, establish root cause, and identify and implement optimal solutions
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively across organizational boundaries and provide exceptional internal and external customer service
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, manage and execute simultaneous tasks, projects and programs
  • An understanding of and ability to effectively apply change management models and methods
  • Experience effectively consulting and partnering with leaders at all levels, including executives
  • Ability to think strategically and systemically and achieve results collaborating across organizational boundaries
  • Knowledge of current thought leadership, trends, and practices in the disciplines related to OD and leadership development and demonstrates commitment to continuous learning, innovation and growth
  • Experience in role of this type in the health care context is preferred
  • Experience with implementation and/or improvement of programs across the talent management continuum (including on-boarding, performance management, emerging and existing leadership development, and succession planning) is preferred
  • Working knowledge of and experience with continuous process improvement methodologies and tools is preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Position serves all facilities within the system. Local travel required.

  • Duty 1: Identify organizational performance and learning needs and effectively develop, implement, deliver and evaluate solutions to meet those needs. Key areas of focus include development at all organizational levels, customer, employee, and physician experience and service excellence, performance improvement and quality/process improvement
  • Duty 2: Lead a team of Talent Development professionals. Provide clear direction, task clarity, and consistent, balanced performance feedback. Cultivate an engaging work environment for the team with a focus on developing and empowering each member
  • Duty 3: Assess organizational, team, and individual development needs and surface human performance gaps. Develop and implement cost-effective solutions, monitor change efforts, and evaluate results.
  • Duty 4: Provide internal consulting to the organization and its leaders in order to assist in driving successful business results and employee effectiveness. Provide coaching and development planning to individual leaders
  • Duty 5: Analyze and evaluate results regarding the value or impact of performance enhancing or developmentally-focused solutions and leverage findings to increase overall workforce effectiveness. Develop and/or integrate innovative performance-enhancing tools for the workforce
  • Duty 6: Develop project structure, approach and plans for organization effectiveness and leadership development interventions, working on both an individual basis and with teams, while engaging and collaborating with appropriate key stakeholders
  • Duty 7: Oversees and contributes to the design and implementation of a system-wide staff and leadership development strategy including curriculum design, delivery plan and design of supporting processes. Maintain and ensure the effective administration of the Methodist’s learning management system (Methodist University) and virtual learning platform
  • Duty 8: Cultivate and maintain strong working partnerships with key MHS leadership, HR, NEPD, and other internal and external strategic colleagues
  • Day 9: Collaborate with internal and external partners to drive the implementation of diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategies, including assisting in the oversight of the MHS D&I governance structure, and D&I-related policies, procedures, action plans and programs that support business objectives.
