Job Summary
GAF is seeking an experienced and business-minded Director of Sustainability Reporting and Compliance to lead our efforts in refining and maturing our sustainability compliance program. The Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable sustainability laws and regulations and aligning GAF's reporting and disclosure strategy with GAF's business strategy, implementing best-in-class practices and project management methodologies and processes to collect, organize, and report data and track compliance.
This role requires a deep understanding of current and evolving federal, state, provincial, and local sustainability and extended producer responsibility laws throughout North America, involves conducting audits, preparing reports, and implementing compliance strategies to ensure compliance with those federal, state, provincial, and local laws. The Director will project manage and work closely and cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and act as a liaison between GAF and regulatory agencies and Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs).
Essential Duties
Lead and manage the development of robust sustainability compliance processes, including the timely and accurate collection, measurement, and reporting of key sustainability metrics in line with regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations, while ensuring strategic alignment with Standard Industries' Sustainability objectives and priorities.
Manage sustainability reporting and compliance across a variety of federal, state, provincial and local sustainability regulations (including climate risk assessments, extended producer responsibility laws, recycled content laws, energy benchmarking and/or carbon emission reduction laws, PFAS laws, etc.).
Support satisfaction of customer requirements for sustainability information (including Ecovadis reporting)
Work closely with supply chain, operations, finance, and legal teams to ensure reporting accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Report on the progress of the sustainability program to GAF’s Sustainability Governance Committee, as well as the Sustainability Steering Committee at Standard Industries
Project manage and work closely with sustainability, supply chain, operations, finance, and legal teams to ensure reporting accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Benchmark and adopt industry best practices and frameworks for sustainability reporting.
Monitor evolving regulatory landscapes, including sustainability reporting and compliance requirements, and lead any necessary adaptations to GAF’s reporting practices.
Implement data management systems for transparent and accurate reporting that aligns with stakeholder expectations.
Identify and mitigate sustainability-related risks, including reputational, operational, and financial risks associated with non-compliance. Support the development of contingency plans and alternative strategies to address potential risks, challenges, and uncertainties.
Define key performance indicators and metrics to track progress on sustainability compliance initiatives.
Develop dashboards and reporting mechanisms to provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Maintain records of environmental and regulatory compliance activities.

Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s Degree Environmental Science, Business Administration, Sustainability or a related field Required
Proven experience in a management role focused on sustainability or regulatory compliance, with a minimum of 5 years experience.
Demonstrated track record of successfully implementing regulatory compliance programs.
Strong understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks and regulations.
Knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance, and sustainability reporting standards and frameworks, including but not limited to TCFD, Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Packaging EPR, etc.
Knowledge of GHG emission calculations and verification, and ability to manage data using environmental and carbon accounting software.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage various stakeholders.
Strong internal partnership skills and experience working cross-functionally to align goals and implement processes.
Plain speaking, common sense approach to rendering advice and working with others to meet goals and objectives.
Results-driven project management, experience leading and executing effectively, and delivering outstanding results.
Proven self-starter, results-oriented, high-energy team player with demonstrated leadership skills.
