Position Overview

The Director of Sustainability Engagement will lead internal and external engagement strategies that advance Shaw’s sustainability goals, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and cultivate meaningful partnerships across the value chain. This role is central to enhancing the service, connectivity, and strategic support provided to sales and marketing teams and customers, ensuring sustainability is clearly integrated into customer-facing efforts.

Working closely across the Sustainability team, this leader will ensure alignment of team priorities and strategies, consistent messaging, and coordinated internal and external engagements. The role will also collaborate across businesses and functions, and with external stakeholders—including industry organizations, NGOs, customers, and other partners—to deliver positive impact, achieve established sustainability goals, enable responsible business growth, and create awareness and engagement opportunities that connect customers to Shaw’s sustainability strategy and progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of engagement strategies that support Shaw’s sustainability vision, goals, and business objectives.

  • Collaborate across all business units and internal departments to effectively leverage sustainability actions to create competitive advantage and mitigate risk.

  • Proactively engage with business units to identify messaging, content, and educational needs that support customer, sales, and marketing efforts.

  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with industry groups, customers, NGOs, and internal stakeholders, creating trust and alignment to amplify impact.

  • Serve as an external sustainability voice for Shaw, directly engaging customers, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders to communicate Shaw’s sustainability strategy, progress, and value proposition, while translating customer needs and market insights back into actionable internal priorities.

  • Represent Shaw as a recognized thought leader at key industry forums, including customer events, conferences, trade shows, and collaborative engagements, strengthening Shaw’s leadership position through compelling storytelling, credible data-driven messaging, and active participation in panels, presentations, and industry initiatives.

  • Guide the development of compelling narratives and communication strategies that elevate Shaw’s sustainability leadership.

  • Collaborate with the sustainability consultant team and corporate communications managing sustainability content, messaging, and coordinated internal and external engagements across the team.

  • Facilitate internal education, workshops, and innovation sessions to build awareness, alignment, and action across the organization.

  • Monitor emerging trends, regulatory developments, and stakeholder expectations to inform forward-looking actionable strategies.

  • Support sustainability reporting, disclosures, and impact measurement efforts in collaboration with internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, communications, business, or related field; Master’s preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in sustainability, stakeholder engagement, or corporate responsibility.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at all levels.

  • Strong strategic planning, communication, and facilitation skills.

  • Experience with sustainability frameworks, reporting, and change management, preferred.
