The Role:

The Director of Sponsorships and Community Partnerships is responsible for the achievement of Second Harvest’s events, community, and peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives. This position will manage all fundraising aspects of Second Harvest events that relate to sponsorships, and peer-to-peer fundraising, while coordinating a portfolio of community-based fundraising initiatives including strategic planning, goal development, fundraising, and stewardship.

 

Your Impact:

  • Lead fundraising efforts in the strategy, development, implementation, and outcomes within the events portfolio including sponsorship, lotteries and peer-to-peer engagement, and ensuring annual revenue and growth targets are met and exceeded.
  • Establish, and be accountable for the achievement of, short and long-term goals for unrestricted funding across the Community Partnerships team, driving partner retention and net-new revenue.
  • Cultivate potential high-value partnerships with community organizations by producing customized proposals, scheduling, and attending in-person visits, in collaboration with the Vice President of Philanthropy.
  • Oversee the sponsorship and participation component in the development and execution of Second Harvest’s signature annual fundraising events, including, but not limited to, the annual sweepstakes and Truck Pull Challenge, and implement new and innovative revenue generation opportunities and activations, ensuring an outstanding guest experience.
  • Work in collaboration with the Donor Stewardship and Marketing & Communications team to ensure partnership recognition and activation commitments are met, and partners are stewarded in meaningful and innovative ways.
  • Strategize and direct methods of approach for 3rd party peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns and events and program sponsorships, and peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns including local and national initiatives that involve schools, faith-based groups, and civic organizations to identify sources of restricted and unrestricted funding, and submission of applications and/or proposals.
  • Establish and monitor direct staff performance and development goals; mentor, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, evaluate results, and conduct annual performance reviews; support direct staff professional development and learning in line with industry best practices.
  • Participate in speaking opportunities to enhance recruitment and fundraising efforts.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.

 

Who You Are:

  • Leader: you have the ability to motivate and lead a team in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot, think creatively, and solve problems; you have shown a demonstrated commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes, and a results-oriented culture.
  • Fundraiser: you have a track record of fundraising success, including securing major gifts, and successfully planning and managing multi-faceted fundraising campaigns and events
  • Communicator: you are comfortable speaking and presenting to large groups of people, including senior executives; you have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical: you have experience creating, monitoring, and managing annual Development plans.
  • Strategic and Results-Oriented: you are a creative thinker who can generate new ideas and initiatives, and plan and execute their implementation.
  • Proven track record in relationship management.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and ability to build budgets for funding proposals.
  • Experience working with donor management databases (specifically, Raiser’s Edge) preferred.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends for special events or during peak periods.
