PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Director, Prepared Foods Operations - Flowood will direct, manage and optimize the overall operations, providing vision and direction to achieve product quality goals, a safe work environment and positive employee relations. This role manages continuous improvements in cost, quality and asset utilization while remaining compliant with company policies regulatory requirements and all Federal, State and local legal requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Direct and oversee the operations and support functions (i.e. maintenance, safety, quality, etc.) for business planning, the creation of functional strategies, and specific objectives to support the Company’s financial objectives and vision
- Manage cost by effective approval of expenditures, overtime and effective budget monitoring and monthly variance reporting; oversee P&L to ensure costs and profit are in line with Company expectations
- Develop operational KPI targets and direct the operations team accountability process to ensure KPI targets are met
- Develop the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and capital planning budget including justifications for variances or unusual capital expense requests
- Oversee capital project management to ensure project expenditures are within budget and are completed within timeline; communicate issues to appropriate personnel with solutions to correct
- Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure adequate Food Safety measures are in place and all processes and production meets or exceed regulatory requirements
- Develop manufacturing reporting that analyzes production and highlight issues
- Develop and implement opportunities for process optimization (throughput, waste reduction, product quality, ergonomics, etc.) and/or reduce/eliminate repeat deficiencies (i.e. hold product, accidents, downtime, etc.); champion or lead teams in the planning and implementation of process improvements, monitor improvement metrics and respond to unfavorable trends
- Ensure team is customer centered, responsive, professional, and that Company and customer expectations are communicated appropriately to staff
- Mentor, coach and train/ cross-train employees encouraging career development; provide consistent feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvement
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This role is a Leader of Leaders role with required competencies: Strategic Agility, Business Acumen, Building Effective Teams, Customer Focus and Command Skills
EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors’ degree in relevant discipline from an accredited institution
- Combination of experience and education may be substituted for degree
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; further processed/ prepared food manufacturing experience preferred
- Demonstrated ten (10) years’ leadership/supervisory experience including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence, conflict resolution and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively
- Demonstrated experience in directing manufacturing operations, building and maintaining annual budgets and P & L oversight
- Ability to learn and understand customers and products and apply to knowledge to improve production processes and relationships
- Demonstrated ability to build and foster teams to ensure a team oriented workplace and maintain team continuity by building on team’s successes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
- Ability to work effectively with others and demonstrate a high level of confidentiality in all matters
- Strong experience with computer skills: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Follow and ensure others follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
- Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to move about the manufacturing floor for a large part of the workday
- Ability to work non-standard shifts (holidays, weekends, and extended shifts) to ensure production in completed as scheduled
