POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, a Division I and Big Ten Conference Institution, is seeking a Director of Operations to support the Men’s Soccer program under the general supervision of the Head Coach. The successful candidate will serve as the chief of staff for the program and support all aspects of player care. This is a non-coaching position which coordinates the operational details of these programs including the following:

  • Overseeing the budget.
  • Coordinating class schedules.
  • Hiring and managing managers.
  • Coordinating Camps.
  • Acting as a liaison to the Big Ten Conference and departments within Penn State Athletics including the Office of Compliance.
  • Planning, coordinating, and executing year-long travel plans.
  • Arranging team practice schedule.
  • Coordinating team community service activities.
  • Organizing all aspects of recruiting visits.
  • Support advocate for student-athletes in the areas of financial aid, orientation, housing, employment, well-being, life-skills, player development, and community engagement.
  • Advocate for student athlete needs and access to athletic department, University, Big Ten and NCAA resources.
  • Supervising onboarding process from commitment to campus arrival, serving as liaison with compliance for PSA. Ensure students complete all necessary paperwork after arrival, helping students to obtain ITIN or SSN numbers, US driver’s license, bank accounts, phone numbers, etc.
  • Develop zero based budgets for each fiscal year and reconcile all expenses for operations, travel, recruiting, and camp across four accounts.
  • Plan and purchase all meals and food for team, totaling over 100 team meals for the fall season.
  • Coordinate with Anthony Travel to secure flights, hotels, and buses for the team, executes all remaining details of travel.
  • Serve as the liaison with opponent while on the road to schedule training times, walk throughs, arrange showers, and any other needs of the team while visiting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all operational and administrative matters while home and away.

Requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional years of experience are preferred.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Athletic Operations Specialist - Intermediate Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Athletic Operations Specialist - Advanced Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

 

 

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

 

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $51,000.00 - $81,500.00.
