We’re leading the way in redefining the workwear category. Our mission is to engineer better boots and apparel for our country’s tradesmen and women by working directly with real workers to learn what they actually need to execute their jobs.
The BRUNT team is not only devoted to improving on the old workwear standards, but we’re also creating a community that tradesmen and women can call their own. From our weekly hangouts at the BRUNT Garage, to hosting events across the country, we’re all about getting boots on the ground and building something real with the BRUNT crew.
BRUNT has reached a pivotal stage with 100 employees, transitioning from a startup to a rapidly growing company. This shift calls for advanced, scalable HR processes and systems that preserve our distinctive culture. We are seeking a hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead the company’s HR function and build a world-class people infrastructure.
Reporting to the CEO (and longer-term a CPO), you will oversee day-to-day HR operations and lead a team of three HR professionals. You will be the primary architect of our People systems, providing strategic guidance and direct operational support across talent management, workforce planning, compensation, and organizational design to ensure we run effectively as the business scales.
Hiring Roadmap: Partner with leadership and Finance to translate growth plans into structured hiring roadmaps aligned with the company’s P&L and long-term targets.

Team Leadership: Coach and develop the HR team into high-impact people partners, maintaining high standards of execution, prioritization, and mentorship.
Career Frameworks: Design and implement career mobility paths that reward high-potential talent and evolve our entrepreneurial roots into clear professional growth.
High-Stakes Initiatives: Lead the seamless roll-out of annual performance reviews, the integration of our OKR framework into daily workflows, and annual benefits reviews.
Total Rewards: Establish a competitive total rewards framework that serves complex hiring cycles and ensures consistency across the organization.
Expansion Blueprint: Develop the HR roadmap for BRUNT’s entry into physical retail, ensuring our culture translates to a distributed, shift-based workforce while maintaining strict labor law compliance.
Employee Relations: Act as the primary, reliable point of contact for employee relations, resolving issues with a balance of empathy and firm adherence to policy.
Systems Audit: Conduct a comprehensive audit of the HRIS and all employee documentation to ensure 100% data integrity across offer letters, compensation, and org charts.
Process Engineering: Formalize HR operations by creating repeatable, error-free workflows for onboarding, offboarding, and lifecycle documentation, including payroll.
Global Compliance: Proactively manage multi-state compliance (Wage/Hour, 401(k), PFMLA) and support our workforce in Asia to protect the business as we expand.
Experience: 8+ years in HR, with at least 2+ years in a Director-level role. Experience in a fast-paced or scale-up environment is required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; HR certification (SHRM-SCP/SPHR) or an advanced degree is a major plus.
The "Builder" Mindset: You find professional satisfaction in enhancing systems. You don't consider any task too small and are comfortable balancing high-level strategy with "in the weeds" execution.
Process Architect: You don't just "do" HR; you create the repeatable processes that make HR error-free.
Data Rigor: You take immense pride in the integrity of your data and the absolute precision of your documentation.
