Position Overview
The Director of Geomatics for the Orlando (ORL) metro will spearhead the growth, direction, and performance of McAdams’ Geomatics practice in Central Florida. This leader will build and sustain strong relationships with private developers, contractors, and key regional stakeholders across Central Florida, while leading a high-performing team delivering exceptional projects.
As Director, you'll be accountable for operational excellence, project delivery quality, and business development results, ensuring consistent execution aligned with McAdams’ standards, culture, and long-term strategic objectives. This role also champions talent development—coaching, mentoring, and expanding the team to support growth, elevate technical excellence, and strengthen McAdams’ presence in the ORL metro.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead growth of the Geomatics (Surveying and SUE) practice in Central Florida by leveraging market insight, client relationships, and pursuit strategies to secure new work and expand McAdams’ market presence.
- Create and execute the ORL metro Geomatics Service Line strategy in alignment with the firm-wide goals, in partnership with the Service Line Vice President.
- Drive business development activities including client positioning, proposal development, interviews, and contract negotiations, with accountability for pursuit strategy and outcomes.
- Develop and negotiate scopes, fees, schedules, and contracts that appropriately define project requirements while ensuring profitability, risk management, and delivery viability.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Geomatics, advising project teams and senior leadership on complex or high-impact projects.
- Ensure high-quality, efficient delivery of surveying services by optimizing operational processes, resource utilization, QA/QC programs, and cross-functional coordination.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Geomatics team, including hiring, performance management, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Actively foster cross-selling and integration of Geomatics services with other McAdams’ service lines and market sectors.
- Strengthen and manage key client relationships to drive repeat business, long-term partnerships, and exceptional client experience.
- Represent and promote the McAdams brand within the metro through industry leadership, conferences, professional organizations, and marketing collaboration.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory considerations, safety obligations, and economic conditions, proactively adjusting strategy and communicating risks and opportunities to leadership.
Skills + Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics or related field preferred
- Must possess PLS or PSM license in Florida
- Minimum of 15 years’ total work experience and 10 years’ proven experience as a Project Manager
- Experience working within a multi-discipline engineering firm for a wide variety of clients with differing project deliverables and standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in core competencies of project and resource management including mentoring, performance management and training
- Able to generate new work in existing and emerging markets through strong relationships within the industry
- Possess the technical abilities required to lead and advise the various geomatics project teams through project execution and delivery.
Work Environment + Physical Demands

- Work will primarily be in an office setting with limited opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions, however when conducting field work, exposure to outside environmental conditions should be expected.
- Work will be primarily working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing, and grasping often with repetitive motion.
- Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally. When working in the field, the need to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 or higher pounds may occur.
- Field based work will involve long-term standing and frequent walking as well as include common hazards encountered while maneuvering through project sites.
- Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
- Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
