Essential Job Functions
1. Provide leadership and guidance to estimating / bid coordinator team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
2. Manages Estimators III and Estimating Manager and oversees their bids.
3. Manages Bid Coordinator Manager.
4. Manages Bid Coordinators in the absence of the Bid Coordinator Manager.
5. Manages overall team performance, including appraisals, development, and coaching; communicates expectations, redirects performance, and enforces all policies, procedures, and standards.
6. Assumes overall responsibility for estimating projects and provides estimating oversight.
7. Creates and implements procedures for the estimating/bid coordinator department.
8. Creates and manages reports, client bid capture rates, and analytics of the estimating department.
9. Stay updated on market trends, materials pricing, and construction techniques to advise on best practices.
10. Implement innovative technologies and methodologies to enhance estimating/bid coordination processes and improve efficiency.
11. Implement projects and strategies created with senior management to ensure company goals are enforced and met.
12. Participate in negotiating and awarding, bid preparation, budgeting, inclusions, exclusions, and terms and conditions, ensuring that all aspects align with company standards and client expectations.
13. Organize a departmental team so each member knows responsibilities and deadlines.
14. Demonstrates proficiency in scheduling complete estimating efforts, including all estimate milestones, durations, identifying long-lead items, etc.
15. Establishes and fosters positive long-term relationships with all internal and external partners.
16. Demonstrates strong communication skills internally with the Construction Management team and externally with the owner, architect, engineer, and subcontractors.
17. Mentors and teaches the Estimating team all aspects of the estimating process.
18. Serves as a responsible leader, directing and guiding the team to uphold all job safety requirements.
19. Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills
1. 15 + years of estimating experience in commercial construction. A minimum of eight years of estimating departmental management experience
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team of diverse employees
4. Demonstrates strong communication skills internally with the construction management team and externally with the owner, architect, engineer, and subcontractors.
5. Must have excellent organizational, attention to detail, and time management skills to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
6. Proficient with computers and familiar with Microsoft Software Suite. Experience with Bluebeam and BidMail is preferred.
7. Able to identify a need, remove the barriers, and the know-how to make things happen.
8. Values diversity of ideas, opinions, and people. Has good common sense and applied logic.
9. Must possess or be able to obtain an appropriate state driver’s license before employment, along with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
KDC offers a competitive salary/hourly range $129,152 to $161,441.74 per year - while considering the candidate’s experience and a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees:
