A DAY IN THE LIFE

A day in the life as a Director of Engineering is centered around leading and aligning engineering efforts across complex, multi-asset energy campuses. You’ll oversee both internal and external engineering teams, ensuring technical integrity and seamless integration across generation, transmission, substations, energy storage, and data center infrastructure. Throughout the day, you’ll collaborate with leadership and cross-functional partners to manage risk, support phased project delivery, and ensure designs meet constructability and reliability standards. You’ll also focus on developing your team, driving execution of engineering strategies, and solving challenges in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining strong alignment with client expectations and company values.

STEP INTO THE ROLE

  • Serves as the program engineering representative during the owner project definition and estimating phase. Serves as Engineering lead during campus master planning and interconnection strategy development. Participates in early site selection, interconnection feasibility, and load ramp modeling to ensure technical viability aligns with commercial structuring.
  • Fosters client relationships, idea propagation, and problem solving. Exhibits commitment to client relationships by nurturing client ideas, goals and brainstorming.
  • Direct and manage engineering activities by creating detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration between the client and the organization’s technical activities. Creates partnership with clients to ensure both internal and external design standards and philosophies align to similar processes.
  • Recommends and participates in creating operational goals and plans for the engineering department. Influences strategies to achieve results and obtains responsibility to execute on commitments.
  • Develop safety standards for the organization and ensure projects are designed and constructed in compliance with all applicable and prudent industry safety standards (NESC, NEC, and NFPA). Serves as an electrical representative and supports EHA and ESP updates to keep relevant with the internal Safety department.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required. Registered Professional Engineering license required and/or in the process of completing. 
  • 10 or more years of applicable experience related to complex, multi-disciplinary industrial EPC projects with specific consideration on simple cycle and combined cycle EPC. 7 or more years of leadership experience required.
  • Must keep licensing and professional certification(s) for engineering resources up to date.
  • Up to 50% of travel is required; travel to client offices and/or project sites as required.

WHAT SETS YOU APART

  • Advanced knowledge on electric substations, overhead and underground construction and maintenance knowledge.
  • Experience with civil, mechanical, and electrical power engineering principles and familiarity with computer and analytical tools as related to equipment sizing, load flow and power quality.

$178,151.00 - $258,319.00 Individual Compensation to be determined based on the applicant's applicable experience and qualifications balanced against internal equity.
