This role is accountable for ensuring the platform effectively supports business workflow automation needs while meeting enterprise standards for scalability, security, compliance, and operational excellence.

Job Description

Workbench is delivered on a low-code/no-code workflow platform. This position serves as the IT Platform Owner, responsible for platform strategy, disciplined SDLC execution, production support, and vendor-led delivery oversight.

This role will initially function as a senior individual contributor, with enterprise-wide accountability for platform outcomes. Development and operational execution are delivered primarily through matrixed internal teams and external service integrators, requiring strong stakeholder leadership, vendor management, and technical depth without direct hands-on configuration ownership. The role is expected to evolve into people leadership as the platform footprint and internal capabilities expand.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Workflow Platform Ownership & Strategy

  • Serve as the enterprise IT owner for the Workbench workflow platform, defining platform vision, roadmap, operating model, and success metrics.
  • Ensure the platform operates as a secure, scalable, and reliable enterprise capability supporting multiple business workflows overtime.
  • Evaluate platform evolution options, including enhancements, modernization, or platform transitions, and provide data driven recommendations.
  • Establish platform governance, intake, and prioritization models in partnership with business and IT stakeholders.

SDLC & Delivery Oversight

  • Own end to end delivery execution across the full IT SDLC, including intake, requirements, design, build, testing, release, and post implementation support.
  • Drive disciplined SDLC, change management, and release governance across internal and vendor led delivery teams.
  • Review and validate solution designs, configuration decisions, and delivery plans to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards.
  • Ensure delivery commitments are predictable, transparent, and aligned with business priorities.

Service Integrator–Led Development & Delivery

  • Oversee all platform development, configuration, testing, and releases performed by service integrators and external partners.
  • Hold vendors accountable for delivery quality, documentation, knowledge transfer, and adherence to enterprise standards.
  • Manage SOWs, capacity planning, delivery performance reviews, and financial oversight in partnership with IT leadership.
  • Coordinate with platform vendors for escalations, roadmap alignment, and operational support.

Production Support & Operational Governance

  • Own platform production reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Define and enforce SLAs, KPIs, monitoring, and escalation procedures for operational support.
  • Lead incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure audit readiness, operational controls, and compliance with enterprise risk and security requirements.

Stakeholder & Cross Functional Leadership

  • Act as a trusted IT partner to business leaders, product owners, architecture, security, and infrastructure teams.
  • Translate business workflow needs into scalable, supportable platform solutions.
  • Provide clear, executive level communication on platform health, risks, timelines, and delivery outcomes.
  • Influence decisions across matrixed teams and complex stakeholder environments.

Leadership & Future Team Growth

  • Operate initially as a Director level individual contributor with enterprise accountability.
  • Establish platform governance models, operating procedures, documentation standards, and controls that enable scale.
  • Prepare to build and lead internal platform delivery and support teams as organizational needs evolve.
  • Mentor delivery leads and partners to strengthen platform maturity and operational discipline.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience with a strong background in enterprise application delivery and production support.
  • 5+ years owning or governing vendor delivered enterprise platforms or managing service integrators.
  • Proven experience leading platforms through full SDLC cycles in complex or regulated environments.
  • Strong experience with:
  • IT SDLC, Agile delivery, release and change management
  • Production support, incident management, and operational governance
  • Enterprise integrations and workflow driven applications
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively as a Director level individual contributor.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, including executive level communication.
  • Ability to balance speed, quality, cost, and risk in platform decision making.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with enterprise workflow or service platforms (e.g., Unqork, ServiceNow or comparable technologies).
  • Experience supporting platforms in high‑growth or transformation environments.
  • Familiarity with ITSM, workflow automation, or enterprise service management.
  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Relevant certifications (PMP, Agile, ITIL, platform certifications) preferred.
