What you'll be doing

As Director, IT Asset Purchasing & Compliance, you will be responsible for leading a team of IT Asset Management purchase & compliance professionals covering 225+ hardware and software vendors.  Working with your team you will operate and enhance the next generation IT Asset Forecast-Request-Analyze-Procure lifecycle services to meet the current and future needs of the Bank’s risk posture, Banking Industry ITAM regulations, reporting standards and internal control standards. You will create an aggressive program to introduce AI and automation to the ITAM program to enable CIBC to be an industry leading ITAM practitioner.  You will implement a new set of capabilities and metrics to measure and report on the success of the procurement & compliance program.  Your team will provide management with trusted, lifecycle-aligned data that enables balanced decision-making, ensuring the right trade-offs between operational, strategic and risk optimization, and cost-effective technology investment. This role provides sophisticated analysis of complex business information and makes comprehensive recommendations to management including executives and business leaders.  The role develops and sustains internal business-technology and external vendor relationships across the organization in and outside of technology, including negotiating and influencing opinion.

How you’ll succeed

  • Analytical Thinking & Data Insights – You will have strong knowledge of process automation, reporting and ITAM tools such as ServiceNow HAM/SAM Pro, SCCM, and other software discovery tools and use of advanced analytics to support licensing optimization and compliance initiatives.  You will implement processes and controls to ensure that your team knows how to evaluate entitlement gaps, consumption trends, and compliance exposure across multiple vendors.  Support investigations using advanced AI capabilities to enhance accuracy, predictions, and automation opportunities.

  • Partnership & Cross-Functional Collaboration - Engage regularly with Procurement, TO tech team, product owners, vendor management, technology teams and finance. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and enterprise vendors to ensure alignment for renewals, audits, licensing changes, and optimization initiatives. Represent ITAM confidently during reviews and discussions.

  • Licensing Governance & Operational Execution - Support daily operational Software Asset Management (SAM) activities, including entitlement validation, license reconciliation, software catalog accuracy, discovery reviews, configuration adjustments, and reporting. Maintain strong knowledge of key licensing models and provide guidance to technology and business partners.

  • Process Optimization, Reporting & Automation - Contribute to improving Hardware & Software asset management processes, enhancing data quality, implementing automation, and maturing AI-driven insights. Identify optimization opportunities and support cost-saving initiatives through accurate compliance tracking and consumption analysis.

  • Leadership – You will work with the broader team to set goals and motivate the team to achieve them. You can identify and remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful completion of team activities and key initiative deliverables. Maintain a strong communication network with the team, providing coaching and regular updates and direction on key objectives, priorities, business initiatives and performance standards.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience.   7+ years of experience in IT Asset Management and related purchasing/compliance/procurement fields and the ability to work across multiple organizations within CIBC. You have experience working with Tier 1 Software Vendors (IBM, Oracle, OpenText, Microsoft, etc..) and are familiar with a variety of hardware procurement and software license models. You have strong self-planning skills sufficient to plan your own and team assignments according to general work plans; ability to multi-task, plan and meet timelines.  You have strong written and oral communication and maximize efficiencies, processes, and systems to meet CIBC business goals.
