JOB TITLE: Director – Captive Insurance Coverage
LOCATION: London
HOURS: Full Time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least three days per week, or 60% of our time, at our London office.

About this opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Director to join our dynamic Insurance Coverage team within Commercial and Institutional Banking (CIB), serving markets across the UK, Bermuda, Crown Dependencies, and North America. In this newly created role, you’ll lead the way in supporting our Captive Insurance clients while driving growth through strong, sustainable relationships—boosting income generation and managing risk. You'll work with a multi-disciplined team and clients who use the full range of commercial banking solutions. These solutions include complex financings, cash management, cash investment solutions, letters of credit, and hedging. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment that supports development and innovation.

Your accountabilities will include:

  • Lead an initiative to grow the captive insurance client base, driving multi-product revenue opportunities across the Group.
  • Collaborate closely with product and delivery partners across the Bank to market the full range of the Bank’s products to clients.
  • Develop and review business objectives and strategy for the sector to facilitate growth aligned to the Institutional Coverage and wider Corporate and Institutional Banking strategies.
  • Support and develop business leads and introductions, as appropriate, improving business growth for the Group.
  • Develop an external network of professionals practicing in the insurance industry who can assist the Bank in developing its business.

What we need from you:

  • Proven track-record in establishing and/or growing a Captive Insurance business in a bank, insurance broker, or other financial institution
  • In-depth experience working with Captive Insurers coupled with an extensive network within this space
  • Established success in originating and growing new business within a top-tier financial institution
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to build and deepen client relationships while fostering internal partnerships, effectively influencing and collaborating across teams and hierarchies to deliver outstanding customer management.
  • Proven ability to build strong client relationships and communicate effectively, influencing and collaborating across teams and hierarchies to deliver exceptional customer management.
  • Knowledge of appropriate Regulatory regimes in the global Captive Insurance market
  • Excellent product knowledge including tailored solutions such as cash management, cash deposit products, and letters of credit

This role is considered Certified under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime as either requiring mandatory qualifications or being deemed as a role capable of providing ‘significant harm’ to customers. Due to this, successful candidates will be subject to enhanced levels of vetting, and required to complete a fitness and propriety attestation on commencement in role. Colleagues performing this role will be required to be complete a fitness and propriety attestation on an annual basis and will also be subject to additional routine criminal and credit checks

This role has been identified as a Client-dealing function under SYSC 27.8.18R as defined in the FCA Handbook

The Person  (“P”) performs the client-dealing FCA certification function for a firm if:(1)  P is carrying out any of the activities in the table in SYSC 27.8.19R; and(2)  those activities will involve P dealing with:(a) a person with or for whom those activities are carried out; or(b) the property of any such person;in a manner substantially connected with the carrying on of regulated activities by the firm.

If you manage certified colleagues this role will be identified as Manager of certification employees under SYSC 27.8.13R as defined in the FCA Handbook(1) The function of managing or supervising a certification employee, directly or indirectly, is an FCA-specified significant-harm function.(2) A function in (1) is not an FCA certification function for that firm if it is performed by an SMF manager of that firm.
