Job Description Summary
Ryan is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director, Global Benefits, reporting to the Vice President, Total Rewards, to lead the design, integration, and administration of our global benefits and wellness programs. This role plays a critical part in supporting Ryan’s continued global expansion, including growth through acquisitions and entry into new countries.
This leader will balance global benefits strategy, M&A integration, and technical program oversight with operational excellence across multiple regions in a fast-paced, high-growth and highly matrixed environment. The ideal candidate brings strong global experience, executive presence, sound judgement, and resilience required to operate effectively in a dynamic and evolving organization.

Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results

People:

Build, develop and support a high-performing global benefits function while enhancing employee experience and engagement.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global benefits team responsible for day-to-day administration and service delivery.

  • Establish clear accountability, performance expectations, and succession planning within the global benefits team.

  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Develop and execute global benefits education and communication strategies to improve employee understanding, engagement, and utilization.

  • Champion proactive and positive communication during periods of change, including acquisitions and program transitions.

  • Design and enhance global wellness programs that support employee well-being, productivity, and engagement.

  • Ensure benefits programs support a diverse, global workforce and align with employee value proposition objectives.

Client:

Deliver compliant, competitive, and scalable global benefits programs that support business growth and employee needs across jurisdictions.

  • Develop and execute a scalable global benefits strategy aligned with business growth objectives and global workforce needs.

  • Support expansion into new countries through acquisition and organic growth, ensuring compliant and competitive benefit offerings.

  • Lead comprehensive benefits due diligence, risk assessment, and integration planning for domestic and international M&A transactions.

  • Establish governance frameworks that balance global consistency with regional regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with local, regional, and global regulations, including statutory and tax requirements.

  • Oversee operational excellence across all benefits programs, including medical, retirement, disability, leave management, workers’ compensation, statutory programs, and wellness initiatives.

  • Oversee global renewals, RFPs, vendor negotiations, broker relationships, and service provider performance to ensure optimal service quality and employee experience.

  • Oversee benefits administration systems and HRIS functionality (Workday preferred), ensuring accurate data governance, integrations, and reporting.

Value:

Drive financial discipline, risk mitigation, and strategic value creation through effective benefits design and management.

  • Provide executive-level recommendations on global benefits design, funding structures, and risk strategy.

  • Oversee the technical design, funding mechanisms, compliance requirements, and regulatory complexities of benefit programs across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Partner with Finance and Legal to manage cost strategy, compliance obligations, fiduciary responsibilities, and enterprise risk mitigation.

  • Conduct benchmarking and recommend program enhancements to maintain competitive positioning while managing financial sustainability.

  • Provide proactive recommendations to leadership on emerging trends, cost pressures, and compliance risks.

  • Implement scalable processes, controls, documentation, and reporting frameworks to support continued growth and acquisition integration.

  • Drive cost optimization initiatives while maintaining competitive and compliant benefit offerings.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive global benefits experience, including demonstrated leadership of global teams.

  • Strong hands-on experience leading benefits due diligence and integration in complex global M&A transactions.

  • Deep technical expertise in global benefits design, funding structures, compliance and regulatory environments across the United States, Canada, Europe, and India; Latin America experience preferred.

  • Proven experience operating in a fast-paced, acquisition-driven, or high-growth organization.

  • CEBS certification is preferred.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.  Workday experience preferred.


Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver’s license required. Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) certification preferred.
