13Director, Executive & Internal Communications
S&P Global has recently announced the intent to separate our Mobility Segment into a standalone public company. For more information, visit www.spglobal.com/mobility.
Position Overview
The Director, Executive & Internal Communications, is a trusted advisor and skilled communicator who ensures that our most important voices, starting with its senior leadership, are heard clearly, consistently, and with impact. Reporting to the Global Head of Communications, this individual shapes how the organization communicates from the inside out: equipping executives with compelling narratives, keeping employees informed and engaged, and building a culture of transparency and alignment that ultimately strengthens the brand from within. The best external reputation starts with an engaged, inspired workforce, and this role makes that possible.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary communications strategist and ghostwriter for the CEO and senior leadership team, developing speeches, town hall remarks, all-hands presentations, video scripts, and executive correspondence.
• Build and manage a robust internal communications program that keeps employees informed, connected to company strategy, and aligned around organizational priorities.
• Develop and maintain executive voice guidelines and messaging frameworks that ensure leadership communicates authentically and consistently across all internal and external channels.
• Partner with HR, People & Culture, and senior leaders to communicate organizational changes, strategic initiatives, and company milestones in ways that inspire confidence and trust.
• Own the editorial calendar for internal communications including newsletters, intranet content, leadership blogs, and companywide announcements.
• Create and manage the internal rollout of major external announcements, ensuring employees are informed before news goes public and feel connected to the company's story.
• Measure employee communications effectiveness through engagement data, surveys, and feedback loops, continuously improving channel strategy and content relevance.
• Collaborate with the external communications team to ensure internal and external narratives are seamlessly aligned.
• Advise on change management communications during periods of growth, restructuring, or transformation.
• Mentor and develop communications team members, building a culture of sharp writing, strategic thinking, and employee-first mindset.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field required; advanced degree a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in executive communications, internal communications, or corporate communications, with demonstrated experience supporting C-suite leaders.
• Exceptional writing ability across a wide range of tones, formats, and audiences, from crisp executive memos to warm, culture-forward employee messages.
• Proven ability to capture and enhance an executive's authentic voice while elevating clarity and impact.
• Strong strategic instincts, able to connect internal messaging to business strategy and organizational culture goals.
• Experience managing enterprise-wide internal communications programs, including digital channels, intranets, and multimedia content.
• High emotional intelligence and discretion when handling sensitive organizational information.
• Skilled at navigating matrixed organizations and building trust with senior stakeholders across functions.
• Experience supporting communications through organizational change or transformation preferred.
What Success Looks Like
• Executives communicate with clarity, consistency, and confidence, and employees feel genuinely connected to company leadership.
• Employees hear about major company news first and feel proud to be part of the story.
• Internal and external communications feel like two sides of the same coin, unified in message, distinct in audience.
• Employee engagement scores reflect a workforce that feels informed, valued, and aligned with where the company is going.
• The Communications function is seen as an essential partner to HR, Strategy, and the C-suite, not just a writing service.
