In this crucial role, you will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Strategy to help drive our short-, medium- and long-term strategy. You will work with a team of talented strategists to craft a compelling vision for our future, identify new market opportunities, and work on strategic projects across WEX.

This individual will serve in a flexible capacity to own and drive a portfolio of strategic projects, including business strategy, market research and analysis, priority setting, and execution planning. This individual will play a critical role in defining WEX’s strategic direction and partnering to resolve some of our most critical strategic questions.

This position sits within the Chief Strategy Officer organization and will be expected to partner closely across our commercial, product, technology, finance, and operational teams.

This is an individual contributor role and reports to the Senior Vice President, Head of Strategy and Planning.

Travel is expected ~20-30% annually, primarily to Portland, ME.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex business and corporate strategy projects in close collaboration with a highly matrixed set of stakeholders

  • Partner across Commercial, Product, Tech, and Functional teams to craft and get alignment around WEX  Business, Segment or Function strategies 

  • Bring an analytical and data-led approach to framing, evaluating, and answering complex strategic questions while ensuring focus on the most critical impacts

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies and assess their relevance and potential impact to WEX

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure broad stakeholder alignment and buy-in to strategic outputs and the overall strategy

  • Develop, manage, and maintain strong relationships with key partner organizations, businesses, and WEX Executives

Who You Are: 

  • An experienced leader with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful corporate, BUsiness, and/or functional strategies

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, 6+ years of which is in Strategy Consulting, corporate strategy, or similar role

  • An analytical problem-solver with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights

  • A first-principles thinker with a deep consultant’s toolkit who thrives in solving complex strategic problems

  • A collaborative and team-oriented player with a customer-centric approach who thrives in a fast-paced environment

  • Adept at using the latest AI tools and techniques to drive better efficiency and strategic insights

  • Possess deep financial acumen, including proficiency in building financial models [e.g. Sheets, Excel] and navigating large data sets

  • Expertise in conveying complex information and recommendations via concise, clear presentations

  • Deadline-driven, organized, and able to multitask; comfortable with ambiguous, fast-changing situations

  • Strong and confident communicator, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels, including C-Suite executives

  • Hold an MBA or equivalent advanced degree in business, economics, or a technical field

Preferred:

  • 6+ years Post-MBA experience at a top Strategy firm (e.g. McKinsey, Bain, or BCG)

  • Experience in B2B Payments, including the economics, technologies, competitive environment, and commercial opportunities

  • Prior professional experience in the mobility, Health & Benefits, Travel, or Embedded payments fields

  • Expertise in financial modeling and scenario planning

  • A strong understanding of M&A and other corporate development activities

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan. Pay Range: $190,300.00 - $225,900.00
