Carrot is seeking a results-driven Director of Content Marketing with a passion for storytelling and a strategic mindset. In this role, you will lead Carrot’s content strategy under the direction of the VP of Brand and Experience Marketing. This includes brand messaging, editorial, social media, campaigns, and more. You will set the tone for all content at Carrot, ensuring that what we create — and how we say it — is consistent, compelling, and aligned with our mission: fertility care for all.
You’ll oversee a small but mighty team, including an in-house Content Writer/Social Media Manager and a bench of freelance writers and agencies. Together, you’ll shape a unified message across channels and formats, strengthening Carrot’s approach to thought leadership, storytelling, and content marketing.
You’ll partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders — including Product Marketing, Brand, Communications, Commercial, Client Success, and Clinical — to translate strategy into clear, high-impact narratives that move our audiences to think, feel, and act.
This role is an opportunity to own and evolve Carrot’s voice in the market while working alongside experts in healthcare, technology, and marketing. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and want to build a function that bridges communications and content, we’d love to hear from you.
The Team:
This role sits on our Marketing team, reporting to the VP of Brand and Experience Marketing. You will partner with the broader Marketing organization, while also collaborating with Commercial, Enablement, Clinical, and Product teams to ensure our external story reflects our business priorities and member impact. You will also lead and manage our external freelancers, setting clear direction, ensuring tight alignment with our narrative strategy, and holding the team to a high bar for results.
Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute a cohesive content and communications strategy aligned with company and marketing goals.
- Set the tone, voice, and messaging architecture for all content at Carrot, including thought leadership, campaigns, SEO content, and branded storytelling.
- Identify and prioritize storylines that resonate with Carrot’s B2B2C audiences, including employers, brokers, health plans, and members.
- Ensure consistency and clarity in messaging and voice across all external content formats.
Content development and editorial
- Personally write and oversee core content assets, including blog posts, white papers, reports, case studies, web copy, and event content.
- Independently draft and refine content that translates complex clinical, product, and market concepts into clear, accessible narratives that reinforce Carrot’s leadership in fertility and hormonal health.
- Maintain and manage editorial calendars across channels, aligning content with campaigns, product launches, and key cultural or policy moments, while owning day-to-day writing priorities.
- Uphold a high bar for craft, clarity, and authenticity, editing and rewriting for both substance and style.
- Maintain an active personal writing load across priority channels to set the quality bar and model Carrot’s voice.
- Define and evolve Carrot’s category point of view on fertility, family-building, and hormonal health, and turn it into repeatable, written story platforms across channels and campaigns.
Social, SEO and web
- Own the organic content strategy for key owned channels, including the blog, website, email, and social (with a focus on LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube).
- Partner with SEO stakeholders to develop content that improves search visibility, authority, and demand generation.
- Test and refine content formats, headlines, and distribution approaches to maximize reach, engagement, and performance.
Measurement and optimization
- Report on content effectiveness using clear, agreed-upon KPIs (traffic, engagement, conversion, share of voice, etc.).
- Use insights to recommend new topics, formats, and optimizations that deepen audience engagement and support pipeline and brand goals.
- Identify new channels, formats, and partnerships that expand Carrot’s reach and relevance with priority audiences.
Leadership and creative excellence
- Lead, coach, and develop a Content Writer/Social Media Manager, setting clear goals and providing ongoing feedback and mentorship.
- Manage freelance writers, agencies, and other external partners, ensuring alignment to Carrot’s brand, quality bar, and timelines.
- Drive creative excellence, pushing for innovative storytelling approaches while keeping work grounded in strategy and results.
- Build and continuously refine content processes and workflows that enable speed, quality, and collaboration.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Partner with Product Marketing and Communications to translate strategy into clear creative narratives that support campaigns, launches, and announcements.
- Collaborate with Brand Marketing to ensure content is culturally relevant, on-brand, and amplified across channels.
- Partner with Demand Generation to build and optimize content that fuels integrated campaigns, lead nurture, and pipeline goals.
- Work closely with Commercial, Client Success, and Clinical teams to source stories, proof points, and data that bring Carrot’s impact to life.
- Proactively identify and address potential roadblocks, risks, and reputation challenges in partnership with internal stakeholders.
