What You’ll Be Doing

As Director, Application Security, you will join CIBC’s Information Security department to deliver the enterprise Application Security program. You will define, build and evolve CIBC’s application security initiatives, projects, goals, frameworks, and controls. You will be managing a team of service managers to provide oversight of enterprise application security services, including application security testing & remediation, secure design, application security training, and overall secure development lifecycle (SDLC).

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

  

How You’ll Succeed

  • Strategy and Delivery– Provide strategic thought leadership, building and regularly updating our bank’s enterprise vision, roadmap and backlogs related to application security. Gain and nurture support for the application security program through the creation of business cases and appraising senior and executive management. Execute and deliver on initiatives with agility and quality.
  • Teamwork and Relationship Building – Foster collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to identify opportunities to enhance application security services, understand pain-points and priorities, influence direction, solve problems, and ensure successful adoption and operation of services. Grow and deepen an external network of industry contacts and participate in external forums to monitor application and software security trends, technological developments and best practices and to assist in the effective benchmarking and evolution of CIBC capabilities.
  • Leadership and Team Management– Direct a team responsible for managing the application security strategy, services, lifecycle management and projects. This includes managing the day-to-day operations of the application security team, including all Human Resources and people management responsibility for a team of 5-8 security professionals as well as fiscal responsibility over the operating and project budget.
  • Service Delivery and  Communication– Manage the health of application security services, product backlogs, service rollout and continuous improvement. Effectively identify and assess service risks, manage and communicate issues and steer complex situations towards resolution. Share regular reports and key insights with the executive team.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in information security and application security practices. Past experience working for a large financial institution is preferred as-well-as experience managing enterprise application security programs. Must have a Bachelors or equivalent degree in a related field and have at least 5+ years of information security management experience. It’s an asset if you maintain security industry certification(s) from (ISC)2, SANS, ISACA, and/or from security product vendors.
  • You are a security thought leader. You look for new opportunities to define what's possible. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. Your critical thinking skills help to realize favorable outcomes. You can demonstrate knowledge of techniques and practices for protecting applications in an enterprise environment, this includes various methods of SDLC, security testing, secure design, security training, remediation of findings and software security
  • You have a passion for people leadership. You are able to drive and motivate a team of people to support your mandate, as well as grow talent. You are an excellent communicator, written and verbal, with proven presentation skills.
