As Director of Full Stack Engineering within the AI Enablement team, you will lead transformational work to design, deliver, and operate platforms and solutions that integrate Generative AI, automation, and intelligent agents into the core of Humana's technology ecosystem.

In this high-impact leadership role, you will oversee engineering teams responsible for end-to-end development and deployment of AI-driven products and platforms. You will partner closely with leaders across Enterprise AI, IT, and DevOps to shape the developer experience, accelerate adoption of new capabilities, and help guide Humana’s journey to a modern, AI-empowered technology organization. Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years leading engineering teams building and delivering modern full stack applications or platforms 

  • 1+ years experience leading teams that deliver production-grade software leveraging AI/ML, cloud-native, and modern DevOps practices 

  • Passionate about coaching and developing engineers, fostering a high-performing, inclusive, and innovative team culture 

  • Understand how to drive technical strategy and architectural decisions that result in scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions 

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving alignment across multiple stakeholder groups 

  • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP), APIs, and integrating third-party or vended software platforms 

  • Practical knowledge of applying Generative AI technologies to real-world problems, and can articulate use cases, opportunities, and risks 

  • Excel at communicating technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences 

  • Demonstrated success managing complex initiatives that require organizational change and cross-team collaboration 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in a technical field 

  • Direct experience delivering AI-powered products or platforms at enterprise scale 

  • Hands-on experience as a software architect or principal engineer and still enjoy diving into code or technical design 

  • Worked with enterprise-scale engineering platforms (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub, Artifactory, SonarQube, Terraform, etc.) 

  • Familiar with prompt engineering, large language models, and emerging AI trends 

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, or GitOps

Reporting Information: 

  • You’ll report to the AVP, Engineering & AI Enablement 

  • You’ll be a the leader of the AI Enablement function, part of the broader Engineering & AI Enablement organization within Technology Strategy

Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$189,400 - $260,500 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
