Accountabilities:
Purpose:
Athene is looking for a highly motivated Director to join our Accounting & Transactions Advisory Group. The Director will navigate and evaluate complex and technical transactions, engage with senior stakeholders across the Company on accounting matters, and drive innovation through the use of AI. This position will report to AVP of Accounting & Transactions Advisory Group.
Key Outputs:
- Support all aspects of US GAAP and US STAT accounting policy activities across business units for the transactions of Athene, including efficient communication of activity and issues across the organization to all relevant stakeholders.
- Provide subject matter expertise in developing products and analyzing strategic and complex transactions related to: Insurance contracts, reinsurance contracts, mergers & acquisitions, pension group annuities, and general accounting topics.
- Provide accounting related guidance and support to business units responsible for preparing financial statements.
- Lead the development, maintenance and publication of Athene’s comprehensive Accounting Policy and Transaction Manual (and other documents, including accounting memos) across all relevant accounting areas.
- Lead the identification, assessment, monitoring, and communication of new and emerging accounting guidance developed by the FASB, SEC and NAIC across relevant accounting areas.
- Develop and execute internal training opportunities for the broader Finance organization.
- Manage and/or support management of team and its member(s).
- Lead special projects as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, accounting focus preferred
- CPA strongly preferred
- 8+ years of experience in accounting
- Experience in US GAAP accounting for life and annuity insurance and reinsurance contracts, including Long-Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI), preferred
- Significant experience in US Statutory accounting for life and annuity insurance companies preferred
- Extensive experience researching, resolving, and communicating technical accounting matters
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
$182,501.60 - $273,752.40 USD Annual
Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
