Department Overview

The Finance team supports the EveryDay Banking Savings and Investing product groups within the Canadian Personal Bank. The team supports the development and achievement of Personal Banking financial and strategic objectives by providing reporting and forecasting, analysis, interpretation and advice to business leaders on both financial and business matters.

Job Description

The role, reporting into the AVP EveryDay Banking Savings and Investing, Finance, will work closely with the Personal Savings & Investing (PSI) business teams to provide meaningful management reporting, forecasting/planning, and valued advice to our business partners. The individual must have strong analytical and communication skills and have solid knowledge of TD Finance management reporting process and systems. The candidate should also have experience in successfully leading and delivering initiatives independently. Strong relationship management and continuous process improvement mindset are essential.

The role has a number of accountabilities which include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure timely delivery of value-add management reporting and forecast/Plan materials, including presenting and responding to queries from the business and various finance partners.

  • Act as the Finance product lead on delivering monthly financial results, providing value-add analysis and advice.

  • Be a leader in building reporting and forecast process excellence and leveraging our partners to provide value to the business.

  • Understand financial results and expectations against the contest of broad economic trends to establish a robust view of the future with a view to improving decision making.

  • Understand financial drivers for business activities, identify key business performance metrics for the business and ensure benchmark / industry / best practice information is shared with appropriate stakeholders

  • Frequent interaction with the business, serve as a subject matter expert (SME), while demonstrating a holistic viewpoint on key components of the P&L

  • Collaborate with partners across Finance to draw on organizational resources to deliver results

  • Participate in developing / implementing new financial / pricing models, business cases, product profitability models, methodologies, frameworks and paradigms to support on-going reporting, audit and / or analysis for the business

  • Support the business to understand and influence partner expense allocations, intersegment transfer pricing arrangement and SR/SVA decisions to name a few.

  • Provide leadership and support within the EveryDay Savings and Investing Finance team, fostering a positive and rewarding work environment

Job Requirements

  • Previous Management Reporting / Finance experience leading planning, forecasting and reporting cycles as well as business case evaluations

  • Business degree and/or an accounting designation is required

  • Ability to manage deadlines, multiple tasks, be flexible and adapt well to changing priorities and ad-hoc requests in an environment with tight deadlines

  • Highly motivated / enthusiastic individual, who can both ‘get things done’ and motivate others in an organized and customer focused manner under pressure

  • Strong business acumen and organizational awareness

  • Knowledge of TDCT Finance systems (Hyperion EMRS/OBI) and accounting/management reporting principles is preferred

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications (particularly Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and ability to work with large amounts of data

  • Strong presentation and written communication skills to peers and senior management

  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to identify process issues and to quickly and effectively resolve as appropriate

  • High customer service orientation

  • An excellent team player – be able to work with individuals from other areas to achieve objectives
