Your role
Embla Medical’s Global Tax team is seeking a Direct Tax Specialist to strengthen our international tax operations. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the direct tax compliance in 35+ countries, and support the day-to-day direct tax matters.
You’ll join a dynamic team of 8 professionals based in Iceland and the Netherlands. As an internal center of expertise, the Global Tax team ensures compliance with global and local tax regulations, manages IFRS tax reporting, and supports the business in its financial operations. You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues in Global Tax, Business & Finance Control, the Finance Shared Service Center, and external advisors.
Key responsibilities:
• Coordinate the preparation and review of the Group’s corporate income tax compliance, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations, including analyzing tax assessments, payments, and supporting tax enquiries, audits, and litigation.
• Support the Global Tax Director in identifying tax risks and providing advice on direct tax matters, including corporate income tax, withholding tax, and the application of tax treaties.
• Support Country-by-Country reporting, Pillar 2 and transfer pricing compliance, including preparation of local files.
• Manage and prepare withholding tax documentation in close cooperation with Treasury.
• Identify and pursue meaningful tax incentives, including R&D incentives.
• Contribute to further automation and play an active role in digitizing direct tax compliance processes.
Who are you:
• You hold a university degree in Taxation.
• You bring approximately 5 years of direct tax (compliance) experience within a tax advisory firm or an international company.
• You communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken.
• You are proficient in Microsoft tools, especially Excel.
• You are well-organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple deadlines independently.
• You are eager to learn and grow as an all-round tax professional.
• You thrive in a multicultural environment and enjoy working collaboratively.
Work location & hybrid setup:
This role can be based in either Iceland or the Netherlands (Eindhoven). We operate a hybrid working model, with the expectation that you will be present in the office at least two days per week. In-office collaboration is considered an essential part of the role.
