Position Summary
The Digital Product Delivery Lead, Operations and Enablement (known internally as Executive Director, Quality Systems, band 10) will drive the evolution of our product management operating model, processes, and culture to enhance organizational effectiveness and product success. This team will design and execute a comprehensive product management transformation roadmap, develop standardized processes, frameworks, and best practices across product teams and lead change management initiatives to drive adoption of new methodologies. Additionally, the team will execute, mentor and train Agile development and best practices.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development of the AI Digital Product Management culture including, but not limited to, standard operating procedures, artifacts (both development and updating), training, coaching/mentoring at all levels.
  • Define and establish strategic direction and financial objectives for worldwide product lines consistent with overall Line of Business (LOB) strategy, Thermo Fisher mission and Clinical Research Group (CRG) direction.
  • Gain cross-functional organizational alignment for strategic direction.
  • Responsible for long-term strategy, annual revenue and operating performance, customer loyalty, and development of a product management team.
  • Develop and implement products and features to maximize Thermo Fisher’s return from targeted markets.
  • Identify customer needs/market trends and recommend/responsible for pricing strategies. Research competitor products and maintain competitive comparisons and evaluations. Gather insights to shape the direction of the product.
  • Develop product profiles, competitive analysis, presentations, demos, white papers, and product updates for organizational marketing materials. 
  • Coordinate new idea reviews and recommendations, concept and design development, project management, and market introduction. 
  • Implement market segmentation strategy with marketing managers to clearly define customer’s current requirements and their future needs.
  • Communicate with customers to gain feedback on user product experiences and opportunities. Ensure correct features are identified, taking into account customers, LOB, sales, finance, related lines of business and others.  Prioritize and negotiate to build best possible set of features to be included and developed in the new products.
  • Manage projects to develop and improve products, coordinating internal resources as well as customer input to ensure products are completed and delivered on schedule and are positioned for commercial success.
  • Execute product development activities and projects through all phases.  Create project plans, determine project teams, gather necessary resources and implement projects.  Manage projects, report on progress and ensure successful conclusions.
  • Maintain knowledge of Thermo Fisher Digital products and services as well as changes and developments in the industry affecting work activities.  May participate in outside industry groups and forums related to business activities.
  • Manage staff, assign work, monitor activities, evaluate performance and manage escalated/critical issues.  Administer employment actions, provide coaching and guidance to staff and promote staff training and development.  Support the development and management of department policies and procedures.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification. MBA / MS preferred
  • Previous product management experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 15 years’ experience) 
  • Advanced Leadership skills
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing a Product Management Operating Model
  • Demonstrated success in leading multi-layer teams globally enabling an empowered environment where product teams focus on customer outcomes, not ceremony
  • Excellent presentation skills with senior leaders in the organization with a clear message and enabling positive dialog for collaboration. 
  • In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.


Management Role:

  • Executive Director role with significantly larger management scope (e.g. global or regional responsibilities or multiple departments) OR mastery of director skills and responsibilities as demonstrated by consistent, multi-year successful performance. Directs through subordinate management. In some instances, may be responsible for a functional area (as determined by executive management) and not have subordinate supervisors or employees. May manage employees across multiple regions.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $175,000.00–$262,000.00.
