Join Quilter plc as a Digital Platform Architect and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital experiences for one of the UK’s leading wealth management firms. You’ll design and oversee the implementation of cutting-edge technology solutions that drive transformation, agility, and innovation across the business.

This role blends technical expertise in Microsoft Azure, .NET, Next.js, and React.js, and more - with strategic thinking and leadership, ensuring platforms are scalable, secure, and aligned with both business goals and industry best practices.


You’ll collaborate with product owners, engineering teams, and senior stakeholders to translate digital strategies into actionable designs, champion technical quality, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

As a trusted advisor, you’ll guide technology choices, promote DevOps and cloud-native practices, and contribute to communities of practice.

As the Platform Architect for Digital you will be responsible for designing, and aiding in the implementation and management of the technology solutions that enable seamless digital experiences and support the organisation’s transformation goals.

This role requires technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with business objectives and industry best practices and design patterns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Design & Architecture
    • Define and deliver end-to-end technical architectures for digital applications and integrations.
    • Ensure solutions leverage modern technologies such as cloud services, APIs, microservices, containerisation, and automation frameworks.
    • Create architectural blueprints, standards, and patterns that support agility and innovation.
  • Digital Transformation Enablement
    • Partner with product owners, delivery teams, and business stakeholders to translate digital strategies into actionable technical designs.
    • Work collaboratively with the Engineering teams to turn the technical designs into working solutions.
    • Drive adoption of cloud-native, API-first, and DevOps practices to accelerate delivery and improve resilience.
    • Contribute to Quilter’s Software Development Community of Practice making sure that the practices align architecturally to wider Quilter Enterprise Strategy.
  • Governance & Standards
    • Establish and maintain technical governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with security, regulatory, and performance standards.
  • Collaboration & Leadership
    • Collaborate with engineering teams, championing technical quality and adherence to architectural principles and patterns.
    • Be the bridge between the Product and broader business teams and the Engineering teams.
    • Work closely with the Enterprise and Solution Architecture team to ensure that designs align with Enterprise standards and principles.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing guidance on technology choices and trade-offs.
    • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement
    • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and digital trends, introducing innovative solutions to enhance customer and employee experiences.
    • Contribute to communities of practice, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing across the organisation.

About You

Experienced in Microsoft technologies, with expertise in building scalable, secure applications on Azure using Next.js, React.js, and related front-end frameworks.

Essential and in-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Azure, Next.js and other front end technologies.

Lead detailed design and architecture sessions with the product and engineering teams to align with Quilter Architectures.

Good technical knowledge of the lower-level aspects of Microsoft Azure software engineering technologies, the Next.js framework, React and other front technologies as well as good development practices around these areas.

Technical knowledge in the architecture and design of Microsoft Azure solutions using Azure DevOps and be able to work with development team members to develop well thought out solutions in this area.

Experience of overseeing an Enterprise implementation where technical and personal guidance is required to support the operational teams.

It would be advantageous to have skills in: -

  • Working in an Agile environment for Business as Usual and Change.
  • Working in the financial sector

Exposure to and some experience of working with structured architecture approaches (e.g. TOGAF).
