Your schedule will be determined by the needs of the department, which currently includes Tuesday-Saturday daytime hours and occasional evening hours. This is an onsite position that requires regular travel between library branches and to community partner locations. Digital Navigators will generally work out of a different locations each day of the week with the same schedule.
DPL’s Digital Inclusion Department (DI) provides free and equitable access to technology, digital literacy training, and support to help people build digital skills and confidently navigate the modern world. DI oversees and coordinates a variety of technology education opportunities and our system of six ideaLAB makerspaces and helps inform policies and procedures related to DPL’s public computers and circulating technology collection.
DPL is hiring a full-time Digital Navigator to provide personalized assistance to community members seeking affordable home internet, internet-capable devices, and/or basic digital skills coaching to become confident technology users. This position will place special emphasis on serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and the people and organizations that support them, while also serving the broader public.
This position is funded through a partnership with Denver Human Services’ Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Equitable Access to Services (IDDEAS) program, which funds various services for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Digital Navigators primarily work with customers in-person, but may also provide support via phone, email, text, video chat, or any communication method preferred by the learner. This is currently a limited-term position through December 2027.
As a Digital Navigator, you’ll provide one-on-one technology help to diverse community members at multiple library branches across the DPL system and at trusted community partner sites. You'll work to build trusted relationships with community members referred by library staff and partners. In one-on-one sessions, you’ll help clients identify their digital needs and goals—whether that means securing affordable home internet, accessing devices, or developing basic digital skills for everyday life. You’ll walk them through their options, create an action plan, and provide ongoing support as they work toward those goals.

Supporting people as they learn to successfully navigate the internet, use online communication tools, create documents and fill out online forms and applications
Responding to customer phone calls, emails and voice mail messages
Checking in with customers to track progress, conducting surveys and evaluations, and maintaining accurate records of services and outcomes
We’re looking for someone who loves helping others learn and grow and is excited to use technology to empower their community. Someone who has experience building relationships with people from diverse backgrounds–including those with I/DD, and is eager to explore new tools and technologies. You will be supporting individuals who may be facing significant life challenges, including housing instability, trauma, or other barriers. Success in this position requires an ability to meet people where they are, practice trauma-informed care, and maintain a calm, respectful presence in emotionally complex situations. While rare, this may occasionally include helping de-escalate frustration or navigating difficult conversations.
Working with the public can be deeply rewarding—and at times, unpredictable. We’re looking for someone who can balance compassion with healthy boundaries, and who values self-care as part of sustainable community work. You’ll be part of a supportive team committed to learning from each other and growing together.
