Job Description Summary

The Digital Manufacturing Systems Engineer is an onsite, hands on role responsible for executing and sustaining the AVS ISC Digital Ecosystem at the site level. The role focuses on manufacturing data collection (sensors/logs), Power BI dashboards, and enabling faster problem solving, with defined responsibilities in OT cybersecurity support, on site programming, project management, and infrastructure support.

This role combines project management with engineering expertise to execute site Digital Ecosystem activities including machine censoring, data/log capture, and dashboard enablement, drive smart factory initiatives, improve process efficiency, and enable data driven decision making.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Digital Ecosystem & Smart Factory Execution

  • Lead IoT and smart manufacturing projects from concept to execution.

  • Ensure IoT data is captured and used for performance tracking and predictive analytics.

  • Identify and resolve technical and operational issues during implementation.

  • Collaborate with supply chain, IT, and engineering teams to deploy connected devices and systems.

  • Support manufacturing engineering efforts to improve process reliability, automation, and quality.

  • Manage vendors and technology partners for IoT and equipment integration.

MES, Data, and Analytics

  • Support MES/eDHR as the execution foundation, ensuring adherence to Digital Ecosystem Golden Rules.

  • Develop and sustain Power BI dashboards supporting shop‑floor visibility (e.g., process dashboards, OEE, alerts).

  • Perform on‑site programming/scripting to support data capture, transformation, automation, and integration troubleshooting.

Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and Operations

  • Support OT cybersecurity requirements in partnership with Site IT (e.g., segmentation, secure access, policy compliance).

  • Support site infrastructure (servers/VMs and connectivity components) required for Digital Ecosystem solutions and manufacturing operations.

  • Coordinate and drive technical workstreams, including task planning, status updates, and communication with site and central teams.

  • Track project timelines, budgets, and KPIs.

Continuous Improvement & Compliance

  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma principles.

  • Drive change management, communications, and training; create repeatable playbooks and standard work for scaling solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with GEHC quality, regulatory, and cybersecurity requirements (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA QSR); maintain robust data governance and audit controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related technical field.

  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in manufacturing, automation, or digital manufacturing systems.

  • Strong understanding of IoT, smart factory technologies, and industrial automation.

  • Hands‑on experience building Power BI dashboards, including data modeling and DAX.

  • Experience with MES or eDHR‑based execution systems used for real‑time production
    (ERP‑only experience does not qualify) and cloud platforms.

  • Experience using SQL and/or scripting (e.g., Python) for data analysis or transformation.

  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment integration or sensor‑based data collection.

  • Familiarity with regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Change management experience.  

  • Analytical problem-solving/action planning experience.
