This position is for someone who understands news and storytelling, with a passion for serving our viewers and readers with stories that matter to them.
This position will be based in our Chicago newsroom and may include weekend and/or morning or night hours.
Position Description
· Create stories that maintain our high standards of journalism and differentiate our brand from our competitors
· Create or clip videos that help viewers and readers understand what matters in news stories
· Craft compelling headlines, push alerts and social posts while delivering stories that make a difference
· Edit wire and local network-affiliated content for a national audience to ensure standards for journalistic integrity and production quality are met
· Showcase broadcast segments for publishing across all digital platforms and social media channels
· Utilize SEO best practices
Qualifications
· 2+ years working as a digital reporter or producer in a major market or national newsroom.
· Strong news judgement and ability to determine when local stories have national appeal
· Experience working with video and social media
· Excellent communicator, both oral and written
· Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 Annually
