Support the Project Manager in implementing the Stop Gap Solutions (SGS) diaspora networking and language survey project. The SGS project will include a number of “sub-projects”. There will be language survey fieldwork in different cities with different goals, involving different people, and using different language survey tools. The Project Coordinator will monitor the various sub-projects to ensure each one stays on schedule and all involved are equipped with the materials and information they need. This role will also help with monitoring and reporting of the budget.Responsibilities
Contact potential ministry partners and evaluate opportunities to collaborate.
Contacted potential ministry partners to discuss diaspora connections and opportunities for language survey.
Recorded notes and evaluated opportunity based on defined criteria.
Discussed with the project team and connected with an appropriate City Coordinator for ongoing follow up.
Coordinated the launch of a "sub-project" if an opportunity is selected by the project team.
Coordinate logistics and monitor sub-projects to ensure each one is completed on schedule.
Attended key meetings, prepared agenda in advance, sent meeting invites, took notes during the meeting, summarized action items, and sent summary of action items to meeting attendees.
Updated project plan according to changes.
Monitored project plans and sent timely reminders as deadlines approached to ensure tasks are completed on time.
Coordinate fieldwork trip logistics.
Arranged logistics for travel to fieldwork sites including lodging, transportation, meal plans, materials, and gifts.
Managed logistics spreadsheets and communication in advance of fieldwork trips.
Prepared flyers, materials, trip agendas, etc. for each fieldwork trip.
Support project manager with monthly reporting.
Reviewed the monthly budget and prepared a report for review by the project team.
Reminded team members to submit monthly expenses into Chrome River.
Input responses prepared by the project manager into the Rev79 report.
Support communication and reporting on special projects that come up from GDS service requests, research requests, or similar small projects.
Communicated with GDLT members or people requesting services or information from GDS to understand the request.
Coordinated fulfillment of the special request.
Completed appropriate reporting, documentation, and invoicing
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong administrative skills.
Strong communication skills including communication through email, phone call, facilitating Zoom meetings, and in person.
The team will primarily be based in the US so ability to meet during standard US hours and proficient English language ability will be required.
Experience in sociolinguistics or language survey preferred but not required.
Training and Orientation:
Orientation to this role will include SIL mandated orientation, orientation to the Global Diaspora Services team, and orientation to the project. There will also be opportunities to receive training for facilitating a variety of diaspora language survey tools.
