At Open Support, we are recruiting for an experienced Child & Family Caseworker with a strong focus on working directly with children impacted by domestic and family violence. Working under the guidance of our Program Manager, you will complete child and family assessments focusing on developing tailored case plans that are appropriate to each child’s developmental stage / need and delivering child-centred therapeutic and group programs. You will support families to strengthen safety, wellbeing and long-term outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with children and their mothers to deliver child-centred, trauma-informed case management for families

  • Receive and assess referrals, complete intake, needs and risk assessments, and provide feedback to referring agencies

  • Develop and maintain tailored case plans for children that reflect developmental stage, current needs, risks and protective factors (in collaboration with their mother)

  • Deliver developmentally appropriate therapeutic, recreational and educational activities, and facilitate evidence-based parenting and family programs

  • Work collaboratively to implement and maintain child safeguarding frameworks and procedures including mandatory child protection requirements

  • Contribute to the daily operations of our crisis accommodation facility

 Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Social Sciences, Occupations Therapy or similar

  • Demonstrated experience working with children and families in the context of domestic and family violence and homelessness

  • Strong assessment and case management skills, including developing tailored case plans for children that align to developmental stage and current needs (including safety planning)

  • Ability to engage effectively with clients in crisis and clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, mandatory reporting obligations and child safety frameworks

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Current First Aid Certificate, NSW Driver’s License, Working With Children Check clearance and National Police Check
