The Opportunity:


Join our team as a DevOps Engineer supporting the Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS), a mission-critical program providing information resource management to Navy afloat and shore platforms. NTCSS delivers tactical support through ADP solutions, facilitating management of material, maintenance, and personnel information. As part of our Orion migration—a framework for accelerated software delivery and DevSecOps—you will manage development tools, automate processes, and ensure security compliance supporting Fleet enterprise applications.
 

Responsibilities:

  • DevOps Infrastructure Management:
  • Administer DevOps tools including Jenkins, JIRA, Nexus Repository Manager, and Subversion for continuous integration/delivery pipelines
  • Lead Orion framework migration, implementing automation to enhance security and delivery
  • Configure and maintain containerized environments
  • System Administration and Security:
  • Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL6, RHEL8, RHEL9) environments
  • Implement security controls per DoD cybersecurity requirements
  • Manage vulnerability scanning (ACAS) and upload results to VRAM
  • Apply IAVM updates and maintain compliance through DoD RMF
  • Automation Development:
  • Create automation scripts using Python, Bash, PowerShell, and Ansible
  • Develop automated testing and security validation solutions
  • Virtualization Support:
  • Manage VM environments using VMware, Hyper-V, and vSphere
  • Technical Documentation:
  • Develop System Administration Guides, white papers, and SOPs
  • Document DevOps processes for knowledge transfer
  • Collaboration and Support:
  • Integrate DevSecOps practices across teams
  • Provide technical guidance on automated build, test, and deployment
    Qualifications

Security Clearance and Certifications:

  • US Citizenship
  • Secret clearance required; must obtain T5 investigation clearance
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 2+ (Security+, Network+, CISSP)
  • At least one of: PSEM/CSDP, OR vendor certifications: Microsoft role-based, MCAD, MCDBA, Red Hat (RHCA/RHCP), CISCO (CCNP/CCDP), Oracle (OCP), VMWare (VCP), AWS Solutions Architect – Professional, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Must reside within 65 miles of Naval Station Norfolk

Education:

  • Master's or Bachelor's in Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering or Mathematics with CS concentration
  • Technical Knowledge and Experience:
  • DevOps tools: Jenkins, JIRA, Nexus, Subversion, Containers
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration (RHEL6, RHEL8, RHEL9)
  • Python, Bash, PowerShell, and Ansible experience
  • 10 years (Master's) or 14 years (Bachelor's) in software design/development, testing, or networks
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in software development or networks
  • Virtualization: VMware, Hyper-V
  • Agile methodology, continuous integration, and automated testing
  • 5 years supporting DoD Business IT systems for aviation, afloat, or shore activities
  • Information security and DISA STIGs experience
  • System Administration Skills:
  • Database administration (Sybase), backup/recovery procedures
  • Certificate management and PKI
  • Network administration and cloud technologies
  • Communication and Problem-Solving:
  • Technical writing: documentation, white papers, guides
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Work independently and in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Communicate systems engineering principles effectively
  • Change Management:
  • Configuration management principles
  • Software testing methodologies (SIT and SQT)

Pay Range:

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$82,100-$172,400
