About the Position

The Flood Control District is looking for an energetic team member like you! The Development Services Technician Lead provides customer service, manages critical parts of our permitting process, and maintains the records in our automated system.  Join our right-of-way permitting team as we review applications that affect Flood Control District structures/properties while safeguarding these assets so they can continue to provide critical protection to our community.


As a Development Services Technician Lead, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of professional engineers, engineering associates, and technicians to support and coordinate a wide range of development services activities. This role offers a work-life balance, with options for part-week teleworking, a 9/80 flex schedule, and flexible core business hours.

We Require

  • Three years of development services experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications

We Also Value

  • Experience in GIS or mapping applications
  • Knowledge of construction plans and/or drawings
  • Experience in land development, construction, engineering, or planning

Job Contributions

  • Manages key aspects of permit applications for projects that will impact the Flood Control District properties and structures.   This includes intake of new applications, initial research of the project’s scope of work, coordinating plan approvals, and issuing permits.  Maintains permit information in County databases
  • Coordinates activities among various County departments, municipalities, consultants, developers, and other external agencies. Provides limited oversight and work direction to lower-level staff.  Ensures a high level of customer service to applicants
  • Troubleshoots and resolves escalated, complex customer complaints, problems, and/or issues
  • Conducts specialized or complex research and interprets and applies ordinances, regulations, and rules to applications
  • Other Job Duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree
  • Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
  • This position is eligible for hybrid flexibility after a brief training period
