About Pursuit
Pursuit is a social impact organization building the future of economic mobility in the age of AI. For over a decade, we’ve transformed lives through immersive training programs that propel adults from low-income backgrounds - often without college degrees - into high-growth tech careers. Our graduates have already generated nearly $1 billion in lifetime wage gains.
Now, as AI reshapes every industry, Pursuit is evolving into an AI-native organization. We’re training AI-native talent, embedding AI into our operations, and building scalable software to extend our impact. From grassroots partnerships to national policy (like our Good Jobs Guarantee), we’re not just filling jobs- we’re rethinking how economic opportunity works at scale.
About the Role
Pursuit is hiring a Development Manager to help fuel our next phase of growth and advance our fundraising efforts focused on economic mobility and the future of work in an AI-driven economy.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, you’ll work closely with the Development team and cross-functionally with External Affairs, Programs, and Finance to drive execution across the full fundraising lifecycle—from prospecting and proposal development through closing and reporting. This is a hands-on operator role for who can own the day-to-day mechanics of grant development, anticipate what leadership and partners need, and keep complex work moving across teams.
You’ll operate with high autonomy while partnering closely with senior leaders who hold ultimate accountability for funder relationships, helping ensure Pursuit shows up prepared, coordinated, and credible with every partner we engage.
What You’ll Do
- Drive execution across new and existing grants, owning the mechanics from material gathering through writing, reporting, and project management.
- Develop and create funder-ready proposals for new and current Pursuit programs and partnerships.
- Drive coordination across program, finance, and external relations to gather inputs, synthesize information, and move proposals forward.
- Produce grant reports and supporting materials that clearly communicate progress, outcomes, and impact.
- Track reporting deadlines, deliverables, and requirements to ensure nothing slips and partners stay confident in our execution.
- Support leadership in external meetings and conferences by developing concise briefing materials and talking points, taking notes, and tracking follow ups.
- Strengthen forecasting and decision-making by maintaining a clear, up-to-date view of the funding pipeline and Salesforce reporting.
- Conduct prospect research and relationship mapping to inform fundraising strategy and prioritization.
- Act as a connective operator across Philanthropy team, anticipating needs, surfacing risks early, and keeping work moving without waiting for direction.
About You
- 4–7 years of experience working on lean development, fundraising, or grant-focused teams. Experience in workforce, future of work, or AI is a bonus.
- Execution-first and adaptable, willing to flex across priorities and step in wherever needed to keep momentum and results on track.
- Highly organized and deadline-driven, comfortable holding yourself and others accountable to timelines, deliverables, and follow-through.
- Experience working directly with senior leaders and executives, anticipating needs, preparing them well, and communicating clearly and professionally.
- Strong writer, who can turn complex ideas, strategy, and outcomes into clear, compelling funder-facing narratives.
- Cross-Functional Partner with proven experience working across teams to align stakeholders, synthesize information, and deliver on timelines.
- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM for pipeline management and revenue forecasting.
- AI- Curious - understands the impact of AI on the workforce, is excited about its potential for economic mobility, and has experimented with AI tools or simple projects beyond GPTs.
- Fast-Paced & Flexible, thriving in dynamic, startup-like environments; bring a proactive, can-do attitude and comfort with ambiguity
- Driven by our mission of economic transformation through equity, tech access, and expanded opportunity for underrepresented communities.
