Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Implementation
- Support the day-to-day implementation of project activities in beneficiary communities in line with project work plan.
- Support in annual budget and workplan preparation.
- Assist in planning and execution of project activities such as tree planting, farmer-managed natural regeneration (FMNR), training sessions, and field visits.
- Provide technical support in tree-based value chains development process and identify opportunities and constraints along the value chains for possible interventions.
- Map and connect tree-based value actors to a profitable venture.
- Ensure timely preparation of ToRs and submission of request in relation to project activities.
- Support in the formation and strengthening of community-based structures such as S4T groups, Citizen Voice and Actions, ECO clubs, producer groups, FMNR lead farmers, and Fire volunteer groups
Partnering, Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
- Facilitate community-level stakeholder engagement, including liaising with local leaders, government departments, and beneficiary groups.
- Support the organization of community sensitization meetings, training, and farmer exchange visits.
- Ensure community stakeholders are informed and actively participating in project planning and implementation processes.
- Assist in coordinating the activities of local partners, volunteers, and field agents involved in the project.
- Identify and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners and other stakeholders
- Ensure effective co-ordination and engagement among project partners and stakeholders for successful implementation of the project
- Build and maintain cordial relationships with relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of the project.
- Build and strengthen effective relations with networks and promote cross learning to enrich project activities.
- Identify advocacy issues that affect project beneficiaries and engage relevant stakeholders for action and influence on national and sub-national policies, remove barriers
Represent the project in local-level stakeholder meetings when delegated by the Project Manager.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Reporting, Learning (MEAL)
- Plan and co-ordinate joint monitoring visits with relevant stakeholders.
- Collect and compile monitoring data on environmental and socio-economic indicators in collaboration with the M&E team.
- Ensure timely collection of field data and documentation of activities using approved tools and formats.
- Monitor the quality and progress of field-level interventions and escalate challenges or risks to the Project Manager.
- Assist in maintaining updated activity trackers, field reports, and implementation records.
- Contribute to learning processes by capturing success stories, lessons learned, and feedback from communities.
- Prepare and submit timely activity reports, beneficiary updates, and field observations to the Project Manager.
Participate in internal learning sessions, reviews, and planning meetings at the district level.
Communication, Knowledge Management and Resource Acquisition
- Assist in documenting field activities through photos, brief write-ups, and updates for communication and visibility purposes.
- Ensure branding and visibility guidelines are followed during project activities and events.
- Facilitate participation of youth and community leaders in storytelling, awareness campaigns, and social cohesion activities.
- Identify problems and opportunities and formulate them into concepts and proposal for donor
- Participate in development of concept notes/proposals for resource acquisition especially livelihood interventions
- Generate quality data to support proposal writing
- Build and strengthen relationship with private sector players or donors to explore funding opportunity
Generate evidence from our work in the field to attract donor funding
Procurement and Financial Management Support
- Support in preparation of procurement plan and budget for project activities
- Ensure timely submission of financial and procurement requests.
- Liaise with Supply Chain to ensure that input supplies and field logistics for training sessions, stakeholder meetings, and monitoring visits are procured/delivered in a timely manner.
- Monitor budget and expenditure and liaise with Manager to take necessary action.
- Ensure implementation of audit and risk assessment recommendations in projects
- Ensure that project finances and assets are managed in line with WVG and donor requirements.
Support in maintaining accurate records of participant attendance, distributions, and asset usage in project communities.
Essential Qualifications: Education/knowledge/technical skills and experience
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Agroforestry, Development Studies, or a related field. A relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage. At least 3 years of relevant field experience in implementing community-based environmental, agriculture, or natural resource management projects. Ideally in an NGO setting. Experience working with local communities, government structures, NGOs, and/or donor-funded projects. Demonstrated experience in community mobilization, training, and participatory approaches. Experience in value chain/inclusive market systems development Experience in collecting field data, writing reports, and contributing to project documentation.
Preferred/desirable skills and experience
Solid understanding of landscape restoration, climate resilience, or farmer-managed natural regeneration (FMNR) practices. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation tools, especially for field data collection and reporting. Strong coordination and facilitation skills with multi-stakeholder engagement. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to speak local language and understand context will be a great asset Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and community groups. Ability to document activities, prepare field reports, and share success/impact stories. Goal-oriented, flexible and adaptive. Ability to work under pressure. Willingness to travel frequently to the field is essential.
