DESIGNER
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE DESIGNER:
- Under general supervision, performs a variety of drafting duties developing schematics, layout drawings, general assembly, sub-assembly, and detail drawings.
- Prepares drawings in accordance with standard technical specifications and assists in design development of discipline related equipment, systems or methods that range from simple to more complex in nature.
- Must use in both 2D & 3D CAD workstation and have ability to work with manual drawings.
- Responsibilities also include being capable working effectively in the manufacturing steel mill environment collecting data, implementing design solutions, coordinating outside contracted support services, and developing working relationships with Operations, Maintenance, Safety and Construction personnel.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED FOR THE DESIGNER:
- Associates degree in related discipline
- Three or more years of design/drafting experience
- Technical Expertise:
- Has developed specialized knowledge and skills in own discipline and is proficient.
- Applies knowledge/skills to a range of activities; acts as a technical resource to others area.
- Must have working knowledge of layout drafting, design concepts, drawing, plans and diagrams.
- Working knowledge of discipline specific principles, standards and codes related to manufacturing, equipment, and environmental/health/safety.
- Problem Solving: Solves moderately complex problems, following "root cause" problem solving; makes recommendations to improve standard procedures and/or processes.
- Planning and Organization:
- Manages own time to meet objectives and is proactive in offering help to others.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
- Ability to perform project assignments that are well defined and relatively narrow in scope. Interpersonal skills.
