ADI’s Aerospace and Defense group designs RF solutions ranging from 1GHz up to 70GHz for commercial, military, and space applications. The solution is based on System in Package (SiP) technology which integrates various RF signal chain architectures for Phased Array Radar applications, SatCom applications and Navigation applications.

Analog Devices is seeking to hire a design evaluation engineer to support the product development of RF SiP solutions. This exciting role will offer the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the industry’s leading RF professionals. The design evaluation engineer will get the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with other engineering disciplines such as assembly engineering, test engineering, RF circuit design engineering, reliability engineering, manufacturing engineering and business management.

The evaluation engineer will work closely with the RF design team to evaluate, characterize, and debug highly integrated RF SiP signal chains. The evaluation engineer will be responsible for the creation of a detailed characterization plan, measurement data formatting and synthesis.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to independently evaluate, characterize, troubleshoot, and perform complex rework of RF/Microwave modules and SiP components.
  • Collaborate with lead RF designers and mechanical engineers in recommending design and process improvements.
  • Perform RF measurement and summarize/communicate test results in the form of reports that is shared with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Lead breadboard testing of components during the design phase and make design recommendations.
  • Support failure analysis through validation and determination of the root cause analysis.
  • Ability to format, analyze, and reach valid conclusions from data and be able to present process/product improvement recommendations to the wider development team as required. 

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS Electrical Engineering with +3 years of experience.
  • EU citizenship.
  • Firm grasp of the basic concepts of RF electronics.
  • Familiarity with RF test equipment such as oscilloscopes, network & spectrum analyzers, power meters, switching matrix.
  • Familiarity with Python scripts to automation RF bench measurements 
  • Familiar with RF measurements, such as: compression (P1dB), phase noise, gain, spurious emissions, S parameter measurements.
  • Strong troubleshooting, reworking, and judgmental skills
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Great organization skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills: critical thinking, problem solving and data analysis.
