The Design Engineer delivers safe, high‑quality, and cost‑effective fixed line network designs in line with client standards and program KPIs. The role requires strong knowledge of NBN and Telstra network topology. The Design Engineer works independently to produce end‑to‑end designs, applying safety‑in‑design principles to identify and mitigate risks. A strong focus on quality, right‑first‑time outcomes, and KPI performance is essential to ensure designs meet client expectations and support efficient construction delivery.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fixed line network network topology, including access network components and how designs integrate across the broader NBN and Telstra architecture.
- Strong understanding of NBN and Telstra network designs, including requirements, constraints, and design principles applicable to complex builds.
- Minimum 3 years fixed line network design experience with the ability to produce end‑to‑end designs with minimal supervision independently.
- Proven capability to deliver cost‑effective design solutions while meeting scope, constructability, and client requirements.
- Ability to identify alternative design options that reduce cost, risk, or rework without compromising quality or safety.
- Strong understanding of Safety‑in‑Design principles and their application to telecommunications infrastructure.
- Clear understanding of key client KPIs, including quality, timeliness, right‑first‑time submissions, and rework reduction.
- Design outputs consistently align with client standards, contractual requirements, and program expectations.
- Ability to prioritise work to meet delivery targets and KPI commitments.
