The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us.
Meet the team:
We are seeking a highly motivated hardware systems integration leader to join our Hardware R&D team. Hardware system integration leads are the single-threaded owners for the technical execution and success of Dexcom’s hardware products. You will lead and coordinate a cross-functional team of engineering SMEs (EE, ME, FW, Sensors, Materials/Process, Operations, and QA) to drive system-level technical alignment, integration readiness, and delivery of hardware design outputs within our PDP and QMS frameworks. This role is accountable for hardware technical deliverables and inter-domain integration across R&D functions, partnering closely with program leadership and (where applicable) HW TPM/PMO counterparts for schedule/RAID visibility, communications, and operating rhythm.
Where you come in:
You will serve as the single-threaded hardware technical lead for an assigned program, accountable for end-to-end delivery of system-level hardware technical outcomes across functions.
You will drive system architecture and interface alignment across EE/ME/FW/Sensors and ensure technical decisions are made, documented, and owned (tradeoffs, rationale, and closure).
You will lead a cross-functional team of SMEs (EE, ME, FW, Sensors, PM, Materials, Process, Operations, and QA), act as the stitching function between domain experts, own system-level hardware deliverables, and mediate technical discussions and decisions.
You will lead technical execution through PDP/QMS expectations by ensuring design inputs/outputs are complete, reviewable, and ready for phase exits (technical readiness and evidence quality).
You will spearhead technical risk identification and mitigation (integration risks, performance margins, test/evidence gaps) and ensure cross-functional owners are aligned on mitigation actions.
You will provide “voice-of-function” for hardware in cross-functional decision making and represent the program at engineering and management forums to ensure alignment with business and organizational needs.
You will partner with HW TPM/PMO counterparts (if assigned) on operating cadence, schedule/RAID tracking and visibility, and stakeholder communications, while retaining accountability for hardware technical deliverables.
You will foster a culture of ownership, transparency, and proactive technical problem-solving across the cross-functional engineering team.
What makes you successful:
Demonstrated systems-level technical leadership: ability to integrate across EE/ME/FW/Sensors and drive crisp technical decision making in a matrix environment.
Proven track record executing through all stages of the product development lifecycle in a regulated environment, with strong discipline around PDP/QMS technical deliverables and readiness.
Strong cross-disciplinary hardware background with the ability to operate at the system level, identify integration pitfalls early, and drive technical closure.
Ability to lead technical risk identification and mitigation and ensure effective cross-functional ownership of mitigations and evidence generation.
Ability to align goals and coordinate activities between product management, hardware engineering, systems engineering, quality, regulatory, operations, testing, and documentation.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively in small and large settings and at all levels in the organization, including senior management.
Ability to deal with ambiguity—ready and able to effectively and efficiently navigate ambiguity to translate goals into clear technical milestones and actionable engineering deliverables.
Emotional intelligence—proven ability to handle interpersonal relationships efficiently and empathetically to motivate, influence, and manage conflict within cross-functional teams..
