At ResMed, we’re driven by a mission to improve lives with world-class medical devices and advanced manufacturing technologies. As part of our NPI & Manufacturing Engineering team, you’ll help design and deliver high-performance moulding and automation solutions that power our next generation of products.
If you’re passionate about precision engineering, problem-solving, and bringing ideas into scaled production, this role is for you!
Let's Talk About the Role:
The Design Engineer – Moulding is responsible for the design, development, and integration of injection moulding and LSR tooling, EOAT, and automation components. You will support both New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and ongoing manufacturing, ensuring our moulding cells meet quality, cost, and lead-time objectives. This role combines tooling design, automation interface development, and process knowledge to deliver validated, high-performing solutions for global manufacturing sites.
Let's Talk About Responsibilities:
Tooling & Automation Design
Design and detail injection and LSR moulds, EOAT, and automation components using 3D CAD.
Create and maintain accurate 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Ensure all designs comply with company standards, safety requirements, and ISO guidelines.
DFM, Analysis & Collaboration
Engage early with Product Development to review parts and provide DFM feedback on geometry, materials, and mouldability.
Conduct DFM reviews with cross-functional teams, incorporating feedback from Production, Automation, and Maintenance.
Perform mould flow analyses to optimise part quality, cycle time, and tool reliability.
Collaborate with manufacturing, process, and automation engineers to enhance tool performance and product quality.
Manufacturing Support & Validation
Coordinate with toolmakers, machinists, and suppliers to ensure practical, cost-effective, and manufacturable designs.
Support the manufacture, assembly, testing, and integration of moulds, EOAT, and automation devices.
Participate in troubleshooting and modifying existing tooling to resolve performance issues.
Manage the end-to-end design process from concept through manufacture and T0 validation.
Provide onsite support for commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting of moulding and automation systems.
Provide technical support to global manufacturing sites for tooling, validation, and improvement initiatives.
Project Execution & Continuous Improvement
Coordinate internal and external resources to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Maintain accurate documentation, revisions, CAD data, and job records.
Develop and implement standardised design practices and templates.
Introduce design optimisations based on lessons learned, test data, and production feedback.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturability, cost, productivity, and cycle time.
Uphold safety, legislative, ISO quality requirements, and maintain a clean, professional workspace.
Mentor junior designers or apprentices in CAD and moulding fundamentals.
Continue to develop technical proficiency in CNC manufacturing, 3D CAD, and automation systems.
Let's Talk About Qualifications and Experience:
Required
Qualifications in Design, Toolmaking, Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
Preferred
Experience with robot programming and logic.
Qualification in Mechanical and/or Mechatronics Engineering.
Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD tools.
A minimum of 4 years’ experience in an engineering environment, ideally involving tooling, automation, or manufacturing operations.
