Purpose

Wild Card Creative is looking for a hands-on Design Director with deep experience in theatrical and streaming campaigns.

This is an on-the-box leadership role– meaning you actively design and animate while overseeing the visual execution of campaigns through release.  The Design Director ensures creative consistency, technical excellence, and polish across all graphics before work is shared with internal teams and clients.

You lead by example, partnering closely with Creative Director, Editorial, Producers, and Clients to elevate the work while supporting teams in fast-paced trailer environments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and animate high-level work in After Effects and Cinema 4D with expert on-the-box execution for theatrical and streaming trailers.
  • Oversee and develop campaign graphics from concept through final release in collaboration with the Creative Director and project’s Producer. 
  • Lead and support the animators, providing mentorship, reviewing work, and ensuring alignment with the campaign vision.
  • Review and approve all graphics ensuring visual consistency, technical excellence, and alignment prior to delivery to editorial teams and clients.
  • Provide hands-on design leadership across multiple simultaneous campaigns
  • Refine and elevate work through active feedback.
  • Partner with producers to ensure workflows remain efficient and deadlines are met
  • Help troubleshoot creative and technical challenges during high-pressure finishing timelines.
  • Contribute to accurate scoping and scheduling conversations from a design perspective
  • Stay current with industry trends, competitive campaigns, and evolving motion techniques

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of motion design experience, with significant theatrical and/or streaming trailer background required
  • Logo design for theatrical and/or streaming trailers is a must.
  • Exceptional design, animation, and finishing expertise in After Effects and Cinema 4D
  • Strong understanding of trailer workflows, editorial collaboration, and delivery pipelines
  • Ability to balance hands-on execution with team oversight
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong communication skills
  • Comfort working in fast-moving, deadline-driven environments
  • Passion for craft, storytelling, and raising the visual bar across every project
Pay Range
$150,000$170,000 USD
