Position Title: Deputy Press Secretary - Community Safety & Policing

The New York City Mayor’s Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. The administration is leading the fight in making the city more affordable, reducing inequality, improving public safety, ensuring delivery of efficient and effective services, and working to make New York City’s economy stronger. The Mayor’s Press Office.
The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Deputy Press Secretary - Community Safety & Policing responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Interacting with top reporters covering City Hall, as well as those covering a range of other agencies, and serving as a spokesperson for City Hall.
Overseeing media relations for agencies within their portfolio, including
Community Safety, Criminal Justice, NYPD, NYFD, DOC, Law, DOI, MOCJ and overseeing issues related to public safety in the City of New York
Coordinating closely with the Press Secretary and the First Deputy Mayor’s Communications Director on all community safety-related issues
Writing, reviewing, and editing press releases, media advisories, briefing papers, and other relevant materials.
Putting together press events for the Mayor and various city agencies.
Working to arrange interviews with senior administration officials, including the First Deputy Mayor, and staffing those interviews.
Performing other duties as necessary.
Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market-competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation for this role is $140,000.
Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.
