Job Summary
The Director of Deal Management plays a critical leadership role to enable and optimize the HPE deal desk and commercial functions. This position is responsible for overseeing the evaluation, structuring, and approval of deals, ensuring alignment with HPE’s business objectives, financial targets, and compliance standards.
The Director of Deal Management is instrumental in driving revenue growth, ensuring deal quality, and maintaining operational efficiency. By balancing speed and rigor in deal approval, this role helps HPE maximize commercial opportunities while minimizing risk and ensuring compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the assessment and approval of deals, working closely with sales, finance, legal, and product teams to ensure deals are commercially viable and compliant.
Ensure all deals adhere to HPE’s pricing, discounting, and contracting policies, and serve as the final authority for exceptions or escalations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including sales, legal, finance, and operations—to streamline deal processes and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
Develop and implement best practices for deal review, approval, and documentation, aiming to improve speed, accuracy, and compliance in deal execution.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with deals, including contractual, financial, and operational risks.
Provide regular reporting on activities, deal pipeline, approval metrics, and trends to executive leadership and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Assumes responsibility for the successful implementation of business plans within the assigned area.
Acts as a key advisor to executive management, helping to shape the strategic direction of the business.
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree, technical or advanced university degree, or equivalent experience.
An advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) is strongly preferred.
Typically requires 10 to 15 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge and Skills
Extensive experience in deal desk, sales operations, or commercial management within a technology or enterprise sales environment.
Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to assess deal profitability and risk.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and handle multiple priorities.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influencing others.
Well-developed leadership skills, such as team building, conflict resolution, and management.
