Major Duties:

  • The United States Space Force (USSF) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is searching for a Data Specialist to support (Computer Scientist) for NSIC (GG-1550-13). The US Space Force is seeking versatile and proactive IT professionals willing to work with critical data transformation layers & pipelines feeding into some of the most impactful systems within Space Force. This supports actionable intelligence and directly contributes to the success of a vital national security mission. In this role, you will be a critical component to the pipelines and welfare of the mission and become a trusted partner ensuring our team has the secure, reliable, and powerful systems they need to succeed. You will establish data criticality and work in tandem with components of the Staff and squadrons on the development and implementation of data management and governance policies, driving squadron adoption and directly contributing to the success of the Space Force mission. Ideal Candidate: We are looking for candidates with proven data engineering / data management experience, preferably 5+ years, and potentially focused on DoD or Intelligence IT support working on classified networks. The ideal applicant should have a degree in computer science or information technology. A strong background showing a proficiency in data-driven architectures, an understanding of data life cycle management, and governance. You will need a solid foundation in data engineering and cybersecurity best practices as you will driving compliance & governance, data integration, and a focus on machine-interpretability for new and existing systems. This role will be integral to the National Space Intelligence Center's Digital Modernization initiative. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Professional knowledge of inter-disciplinary engineering (such as electronics, electrical, computer, aerospace, or mechanical disciplines, mathematics, computer science, or closely related fields) and computer science concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures to effectively apply engineering and computer science theories, principles, and concepts to intelligence analysis application development to enable the engineering design, analysis, and modeling & simulation (M&S) of threat systems. 2. Professional knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodologies of all-source scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI) analysis, software development, modeling and sim.ulation, and the Defense Intelligence Analysis Program (DIAP). 3. Expanded knowledge of the mission, role, function, organizational structure, and operation of the DoD, Air Force, and Intelligence Community; and their communication and information infrastructures and organizations. 4. Skill and ability to gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning task progress and effectively communicate, including the presentation of technical problems and results in a logical and concise manner; skill and ability to apply practical thinking skills, attention to detail, balanced decision making, conceptual thinking, consistency, goal directedness, problem and situation analysis, reliability, and theoretical problem solving, emotional control, handling stress, initiative, job ethics, meeting standards, listening skills, personal accountability, commitment, and drive. 5. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy; and ability to plan and organize work, and consult effectively with co-workers and peers. 6. Ability to collaborate and effectively work within a group setting, maintain effective working relationships with a variety of technical representatives, peers, and government contractors; and skill in presenting technical findings and evaluations clearly, logically and concisely in a variety of verbal, written and graphical formats.
