This role sits at the intersection of business understanding and technical execution, where you'll partner with solutions teams to identify high-value problems and work with platform engineers to bring data-driven products to life. Your focus is on applying machine learning strategically to areas like risk decisioning and credit monitoring—extracting insights from documents, building predictive models, and deploying solutions that reach over 100,000 users across the financial services industry.

You'll own the full lifecycle of data science work: understanding business requirements, collecting and preparing data, testing algorithms in Databricks, and productionalizing models at scale. This is a technical role where skills in Python and SQL are essential, not optional. The team is small enough that your work will be visible and impactful, but large enough to learn from experienced peers who prioritize collaboration and knowledge sharing. We're looking for someone adaptable, genuinely excited about problem-solving, and eager to see their work make a measurable difference in banking software.

Essential Functions: 

• Applies intermediate knowledge of data visualization tools, databases, and data science related programming languages  

• Comfortable creating usable data machine learning, predictive modeling, and advanced analytics tools tailored to solve business problems 

• Designs moderately complex data solutions 

• Builds reputation for creatively solving routine problems with strong analytical skills within team and proposes solutions to new problems as they arise  

• Developing knowledge of nCino’s objectives as they relate to data science while gaining an understanding of nCino’s products, services, and customers 

• Leverage AI tools and techniques to enhance software development activities, including code generation, testing, debugging, and optimization.

• Apply AI insights to identify patterns, automate repetitive tasks, and improve overall development efficiency and product quality.

• Evaluate and integrate AI/ML capabilities where appropriate to strengthen product functionality and user experience.

• Maintain awareness of emerging AI trends and best practices to inform continuous learning and innovation.

Qualifications:

Required: 

• Undergraduate degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field with 2+ years of related experience  or combination of experience and education 

• Proven experience in one or more programming languages commonly used in data science, such as Python or R and SQL. 

• Basic understanding of the business domain  

• Experience with advanced data manipulation, cleaning, and transformation techniques.  

• Experience developing machine learning models.  

• Expertise in data visualization and storytelling with data. 

• Experience with data visualization tools (DOMO, AWS Quicksight, Tableau, etc.) 

• Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques 

• Experience with SQL or noSQL and database management systems 

• Flexibility and the ability to be productive in a fast-paced, team environment 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

The pay range for this role is based on relative market data and alignment with our compensation philosophy. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum of the pay range for each job posting, which is used to determine new hire rates/salaries and takes into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, abilities, proficiencies, experience, education, licensures/certifications, as well as business and organizational needs. nCino reserves the right to modify the posted range consistent with our internal practices and external market movement. The recruiter for this job posting can share more compensation details during the recruitment process, as base salary is only one component of the total compensation package per position posted.

The base salary range for this job is:

$93,900.00 - $159,600.00
