Job Summary: This position is located within the Office of Research, Development, and Technology (HRT) at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC). HRT leads a nationally coordinated highway research and technology program to enable improved safety, durability, resilience & operational performance of the Nation's highway system; champions the advancement of highway innovation in support of strategic goals & objectives; & provides expert technical assistance on matters of national importance.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration. To qualify for the Grade 13, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-12, it must include: Experience conducting research and development in areas of data science and artificial intelligence, Experience applying data management practices to support operational goals, AND Experience demonstrating the ability to communicate technical concepts by presenting, writing, and demonstrating to different audiences. To qualify for the Grade 14, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-13, it must include: Experience leading a research and development program in areas of data science and artificial intelligence, Experience leading the development of data management practices to support operational goals, AND Experience demonstrating the ability to communicate technical concepts by presenting, writing, and demonstrating to different audiences, including senior leadership. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Artificial Intelligence - Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools used to design systems that perform human intelligence functions. Research - Knowledge of the scientific principles, methods, and processes used to conduct a systematic and objective inquiry; including study design, collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; and the reporting of results. Technical Credibility - Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise. Customer Service - Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous improvement.
