THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are looking for Data Governance, Specialist who is responsible for:
- Operationalizing the AIA Group Data Governance Standard within AIA Vietnam by partnering with Business and Technology teams to embed clear data ownership, consistent definitions, and effective governance controls across critical data domains.
- Strengthening data quality, metadata and lineage discipline, and supports approved, traceable data access to reduce operational and compliance risk while enabling trusted reporting, analytics, and decision-making.
- Delivering outcomes through professional execution and cross-functional coordination, supporting Data Owners/Stewards and governance forums to drive adoption and sustained compliance.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Governance involves working with Business Units and IT teams to implement the AIA Group Data Governance Standard by establishing clear data ownership, maintaining the Business Data Catalogue, monitoring data quality for CDEs, and ensuring controlled, traceable data access and policy compliance.
1. Data Governance Framework Implementation
- Operationalize the AIA Group Data Governance Standard within AIA Vietnam, translating requirements into BU-level governance processes and controls
- Coordinate with Data Owners and Data Stewards to maintain the stewardship model, CDE scope, and agreed governance workflows (including approvals and exceptions where applicable).
- Maintain and continuously improve the Business Data Catalogue / Business glossary and definitions to meet Group metadata and definition requirements.
2. Data Quality Management
- Execute data quality assessments for in-scope data domains, including monitoring of data quality rules and thresholds and identifying recurring issues and trends
- Partner with Business and IT teams to drive issue triage, root-cause coordination, and remediation tracking, ensuring timely closure and evidence for governance reporting.
- Produce regular dashboards and governance updates for leadership forums (e.g., Data/AI Council) and stakeholders to support transparent progress tracking and decision-making.
3. Metadata, Lineage & Documentation
- Ensure ongoing capture, validation, and maintenance of critical metadata and data lineage to support traceability and impact assessment.
- Ensure catalogue documentation supports data classification and related governance documentation, aligned to Group expectations.
- Maintain governance documentation and evidence packs to support audit readiness and periodic governance reviews.
4. Data Access Governance
- Administer and coordinate functional data access request workflows, ensuring access is reviewed, approved, and traceable in line with governance requirements.
- Monitor special access approvals and exceptions, maintaining logs and evidence to support audit readiness and compliance reporting.
5. Policy Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Ensure adherence to relevant Group standards (including data governance, data quality, and data protection/privacy touchpoints) as applied through governance deliverables and controls.
- Provide practical advisory guidance to Business Units and IT teams on governance requirements, definitions, ownership, and control expectations.
- Support governance forum operations (e.g., council packs, materials, dashboards, and communications) and contribute to awareness/training to drive adoption.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Information Technology, Data/ Information Management, Business Analytics, or related discipline.
- 2-4 years’ experience in data governance, data quality, data management, or IT governance (insurance/financial services is a plus).
- Solid understanding of data governance concepts, metadata, lineage, data quality management; ability to interpret data models, domain structures, and data flows.
- Experience working with data catalogue tools, BI/analytics platforms, and data management systems.
- Familiarity with AIA Group Data Governance Standard and related privacy/protection requirements; comfortable working in a regulated environment
- Strong ownership, discipline, and attention to detail; able to manage sensitive data and follow strict compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills; able to coordinate RCA/remediation tracking across teams.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across business and technical stakeholders.
- Passion for improving data reliability and enabling trustworthy reporting/analytics through practical governance.
- Comfortable driving adoption through stakeholder engagement, training/enablement, and governance forum support.
- Stakeholder management and/or program/portfolio coordination experience.
