The Information and Data Management (IDM) department is responsible for Data Governance, Data Management and MI production. The mandate of the department is to:

• Develop a business led, technology enabled data strategy and roadmap for delivery of data management target state
• Develop a data governance framework and establish data related policies and procedures to improve the value of data as an enterprise asset
• Source, validate and maintain master data repositories of market and reference data
• Agree data quality standards with business owners and track metrics and continuously improve data processes
• Investigate and analyse data issues, identify the root cause and recommend control improvements
• Develop and support an MI platform optimised for the aggregation of data and the reporting of processed and analysed information
• Deliver accurate, timely and insightful MI to the international business to support executive decision making and to meet statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.

The team operates internationally with staff currently based in London, New York and Hong Kong.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

  • We have an exciting role within our Data Governance team.  The successful candidate, reporting to the head of Data Governance, will play a key role in embedding an enterprise-wide data governance framework across the EMEA region.
  • The successful candidate is expected to implement data governance policies and standards in areas such as data risk, Key Data Elements (KDE's), data lineage and data quality, while also supporting the implementation and adoption of strategic data governance tools.
  • The role holder will collaborate proactively with stakeholders across the organisation to promote data as an enterprise asset and ensure that data is effectively governed and managed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and document data governance policies and standards covering roles and responsibilities for data risk, data ownership, data glossaries, data quality and issue management. Monitor compliance with data governance standards.
  • Chair or support data governance forums ensuring actions and decisions are escalated and addressed effectively.
  • Provide education across the organization to embed a strong data culture including training of data governance and data management principles.
  • Work with data stewards in data mapping initiatives, including the documentation of data lineage, identification of KDEs and implementation of data quality rules.
  • Support the implementation and adoption of strategic data governance tools covering data glossary, metadata, data quality and data lineage.
  • Collaborate with data owners across front office and support functions to support assessment and remediation of data risk.
  • Ensure timely remediation of audit requests and actions.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience (minimum 5 years) in data governance, data management, or related roles within financial services.
  • Experience supporting data governance forums and working groups.
  • Experience defining data management standards and policies and supporting their adoption across the organization.
  • Experience supporting Internal Audit requests and audit remediation activities

Preferred:

  • Experience with regulatory data programmes, such as BCBS 239, GDPR.
  • Experience implementing data catalogue or data quality solutions.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential

  • Strong understanding of Data Governance best practices and experience in their implementation.
  • Experience working with stakeholders of all levels.
  • Experience working with Informatica, Collibra or similar data governance tools.

Education / Qualifications:

Bachelor's or master's degree in a business or technical-related field.
