Mission and responsibilities:
We're looking for a leader with strong technical expertise and management skills to lead technical projects in the Big Data domain. You will play a key role in implementing the ODS data lake across various entities within Santander group internationally. This role offers a great chance to innovate, work with the latest technologies, and collaborate with a talented team to make a global impact.
The ideal candidate must be proficient in Spark, Scala, AWS, and Big Data ecosystems. Additionally, they should have strong management abilities to lead projects, resolve issues and blockers, and execute end-to-end data projects.
The main tasks of this position will be the following:
Project Planning: Define the scope, objectives, and timelines of projects focused on designing and implementing production big data environments using modern technologies. Develop a detailed plan that includes tasks, resources, and schedules for building, validating, and optimizing large-scale big data solutions in heterogeneous data environments. This includes developing and managing ETLs in batch (Spark and Scala) and streaming (Apache Flink), working with the AWS Ecosystem (EMR, EC2, IAM, GLUE, ATHENA, S3, CloudFormation, LakeFormation, Redshift, DynamoDB, RDS, ECS & ECR.
Team and Scrum Leadership: Form and lead teams, assign tasks according to members' skills, promote collaboration and conflict resolution, organize sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, unblock tasks, and work on tickets alongside the team.
Analysis and Resolution of Functional Issues in Production: Identify, analyze, and resolve functional issues that arise in the production environment.
Technical Advisor: Translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans within the product development lifecycle, providing recommendations and technical guidance to the development team.
Communication: Maintain open communication with all stakeholders, providing updates and responding to inquiries. Understanding customers’ needs and expectations, translating them into technical requirements.
Risk and Quality Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks to minimize their impact on the project, and implement processes to ensure deliverables meet agreed-upon standards.
To be successful in the role you must have
At least 2 years managing Big Data Projects with responsabilities like those described above.
At least 4 years of experience working with big data – Scala, Spark, and AWS are a must.
Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish (at least B2-C1)
· Strong management skills and the ability to solve complex problems.
· Experience in implementing end-to-end data solutions.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Nice to have
Experience working in agile continuous integration/DevOps paradigm and tool set (Git, Jenkins, Sonar, Nexus, Jira, and Splunk).
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or other STEM, and related fields, or equivalent work experience.
Experience with data warehousing, apache iceberg, and visualisation tools.
Experience with NRT applications: Apache Flink, spark streaming.
